Made in Deal
Negotiations looking toward a merger
of copper propertes have progressed tar
enough to warrant the statement that
the transaction will be completed before
th close of the year An official an
te
nOicement by the firt ot next month
would not be surprising says the Val
Str t Journal
I is now certain that the Amalga
rated CollRyan and Guggenheim prop
ertls and perhaps other companies will
be included In the merger The United
MEtals Selling company and International
Sm1tng Refining company will per
haps bl subsidiaries of the cnsolda
tion The combination In the event of
ton mprger as deribe would Include the

but no definite statement In this respect
can b made
A S R Not Included
The merger of the Amalgamated Copper
company ColeRyan Interests and United
Metals Selling company would give the
consolidated ompany control of some
thing more than 800 pounds of cop
per output yearly I Is not the Inten
lion of the banking Interest now work
Ing out the merger plans to Include the
American Smelting Refining company
Conferences bearing upon the copper
merger are being held this week but ac
cording to wall Informed interests no ot
tlclal statement Is lIkely to bo made In
the near future notwithstanding that ne
gotlatlons are being pushed forward as
gotatons
rapidlY as possible The statement Is
made that the capitalization at the con
solidated company Is likely to b nearer
00 than 10ol
All the copper Isterests are now work
Ing In harmony In an effort to effect a
consolidation realizing that should the
plan fail the copper Industry would be
fal
thrown Into a state of demoralization
from which It would not recover In years
On of the objects of the merged com
pany would be to regulate the Industry
satisfactorily to producer as well as consumer

NEW DEVELOPMENT
Columbus Con Manager De
scribes Results of New
Work in Mine
Some of the reasons for the advance In
prIce of the sock of Columbus Consol
date Mining company are given by Gen
eral Manager Ton Jacobson In a Jet
ter to stockholder accompanying the cal
for a special meeting of stockholders or
the company to be held on December lL
The purpose of the meeting Is to change
the date of the companyl annual meet
Ing from the first Thursday In February
to the first Tuesday In June ot each
year The change Is deemed advisable
for the reason that It Is usually Imprac
ticable If not Impossible for out ot tow
stockholders to visit the mine at the
February time of attending the annual meeting In
Ftbruaty
At the mine everything Is moving
along nicely says Mr Jacobson In his
letter which Is under date ot November
15 Within the past thirty days we
have made two very Iportnt develop
ments The first Is on the tunnel level
near No 5 shaft where we crosscut to
the southeast 10 feet and caught a new
ore body which appears to have great
merit We are now sinking In this ore
which Is a sold body of copper sulphides
averaging from 10 to 1 per cent copper
and from 10 to 12 ounces In slr This
the wrltr considers a very Important df
velopment as It runs parallel wit the are
body on which we have been working for
the past year and whIch continued from
the 40foot level to the surface giving
bout 70 feet Of stoplng ground The ex
tent of this development Is not known 1
yet but from all appearances It will
prove up and be as big as anything we
have yet had at the property
Large FIssure on 400
The leGond development Is on our 400
foot level 40 feet below the tunnel where
we crosscut to the south 3 feet and
caught a large fissure which we arc
now following to the contact The ore In
this fissure Is of a milling grade at pres
ent but as soon as the contact Is reached
Judging from other pars of the mine
under Imlar conditions I should make
a large body of hlghgrde ore This work
should be accomptlhn within the next
two or three weeks and If developments
prove as we expect them to It virtually
ly means a new mine for the company as
I Is absolutely independent of any other
ore shoot we have yet developed
We arc alsQ crosscutting In other
places for contacts and of course ex
pect some developments In each of them
All this work should be accomplished be
tore the expiration of the year and from
appearances will prov of great vAlue to
the company prov9 I
At the present time shipments are I
amounting to about 5 tons of ore a day I
and we are paying expenses From now I
on we expect to Increase this from 75 to
10 tons a day which will give the com
pap some profit gve
As to rumors In regard to law suit

RED WARRIOR ORE
FORTYFEET WIDE
FRTY FEE WIE
Will Take Months to Determine
Extent of New Body Says
Merrit
I
The body or sand carbonate ore recent
ly opened In a raise from the 4 level
of the Red Warrior mine In Beaver
county has been opened to the width of
40 feet with nothIng yet In sight to de
fine the limits of the mammoth deposit
Such is the word received yesterday from
the mIne by R J Evans of this city
When the remarkable ore body was
first opened President Lucien Iert
of the Red Warrior company said that
It would take some days oC work to gain
an Idea ot its extent After M Evans
had vlIted th mine last Sunday he ven
tured the opinion that I would be sev
eral weeks before tHat Idea would b I
gained President Merrit says now that
I will be month before they will know
how big I is a
ThE raise from the 40 level cu J one
side of the ore shoot resulting in many
tons ot the sndlke ore caving into th
opening and running down to the level
blow This left a cavern fully 2 feet
across leading from the top of the raise
and subsequent work has widened I to
40 feet with no way at present to de
termine how far In any direction the ore
may extend
On account of the material caving so
easily It Is unsafe for men to work m the
opening that has ben made As soon as
the ore whIch flows Into the raise can b
cleared away however the drift on the
4 level will b extended south to open
the new body on that level I will prob
20 ably feet have to b extended not to exceed
The company expect to soon be ship
ping a carload a day of ore running from
10 to 15 a carload
TINTIC STANDARD HAS
STRONG INDCATIONS
Conditions atogther encouraging for
encountering ore at any time In the shaft
of the Tlntc Standard company led to the
report being circulated In camp yester
day that a strike had ben made Gen
eral Manager E J Raddat while de
nying the report admlttd that the bot
tom ot the shaft looks as though an ore
body could not b far away The quart
shows more thorough impregnation with
Iron with every additional foot that Is
sunk
The shaft was yesterday at the depth
of 6 feet and Jt was expected to reach
the 70foot point by Tuesday A station
will be cut on that level and drifting wm
be done for or on the ore a exlgepcles
of the casE may require
Mining men who are familiar wit the

with that of Centennial Eureka and Eu

PUSH CAMPAIGN
Order Is Given Manager to
Star Active Work in Mer
ger Ground
Directions to push the campaign ot de
velopment outlined by the Utah Metals
Metals
company merger of the Bingham
mergr
and Bingham Centraltandar companies
Ies was received yesterday by Manage
Trelor from the new companys easter
headquarters This means that all de
tails of financing the merger have been
definitely settled tat abundant capial
has been provided for opening the erie
erie
estate and that there will be no stop In
carrying out the program Co make an
other great mine in Bingham
The work upon which efforts will be
centered for the time beings is that of
driving the long tunnel from the Tooele
side of the range But as the tunnel en
Counters ore fissures on the way drift
ing upon them will be inaugurated and
th development work thus greatly ex
tended The tunnel is in 3000 feet with
about 8000 feet yet to drive to get under
the known ore bodies on the Bingbam
side where will be attained a depth of
approximately 2300 feet from the sur
face
The tunnel is 5eqUIpped with compres
sor and other machinery necessary for
rapid driving The company owns its own
electric power plantthe electricity being
generated by water power It should thus
be enabled to do as cheap mining as
has ever been done in Bingham and wi
the tunnel outlet for its ores equipped
with electric haulage and opening near
the international companys smelter it
should likewise take its place with the
lowcost producers
