THE REV FATHER W K RYAN I
r A bazar which will long be remem

yesterday in the spacious hall of St 1
Marys cathedral given under the di

The Rev W K Ryan took personal in

The festivities were really opened with
a tenants luncheon at 11 oclock yes
V rua > forenoon And according to ex

to enjoy the well known culinary tri

St Patricks in the preparation of de

T in n the service ceased tables had
bfn set and reaet with frequency
What remained of the afternoon was

aj a general organization of the even

with a brief introductory address by
Father Ryan
Practically all the societies connected
with the parishes directly or indirect
ly have been taking an interest in the
success of the festivities They will
continue three daj s and a feature of the
entertainment of the closing night will
be songs and exercises by 100 children
from Kearns St Anns orphanage The
little tots have been carefully drilled
and those who have seen their rehears

The booths and other attractions of
the baaar are under the direction of the

are anxious about their future came out
of Miss Mulveys little tent well satisfied
with the road she had laid out for them
The particular rival of the gypsy tent
proved to be the shooting gallery under

GUTHRIES HEROISM
RESULTS IN DEATH
Son Bringing Body of Former

later his relatives here were apprised
His son J William Guthrie went to Ely

Bonds Must Be Retired
According to official statements inter

common stock have been retired
The redemption price is 102 4 and large
quantities of the bonds have recently been
traded in on the stock exchange at a
steady advance from 96 to 10H4 the lat

formal offer of redemption probably wU

The St Louis San Francisco Railroad
company was organised in 1896 a the suc

When taken over by the Rock Island
company control of the property rested

Mr Yoakum was made chairman of the

the disassociation of the Rock Island

not have its inception in th interstate

said tonight that the combination of the
Rock Island and Frisco lines had not
been discussed by that body for three
years
yea V
Members of the commission are of th
opinion that B F Yoakum and B L
Winchell have acquired th Frisco not
with the idea of a positive combination
with the rapidly forming Hawley system
but to round out a southwestern system
of their own
Mr Yoakum II interested in the devel

back his Frisco i is said he hopes with
the connection with the seaboard line at
Birmingham to carry a large portion of
the traffic that How goes through St

I is understood that in taking back
th Frisco which he practically turned I
over to the Rock Island a few years ago
Mr Yoakum turned over his interests in
the Rock Island company
