In honor of Thanksgiving Day the residents of thin city arid vicinity rested from their dully labors and observed the day In general holiday style by par taking of turkey dluuers. Most all of our business houses closed and mana gers, proprietors and clerks had one day off. Our public schools closed Wed lies day evening to reopen again Monday . The hotels and restaurants all served special Thanksgiving turkey dinners to their patrons and friends. General Thanksgiving was the order of the day and we, tho residents of the (Ireat Hear River Valley, have much to be thankful for. The Josephine Deltry Oo. drew a crowded house at the hall in the evening 4 and presented the pleasing comedy drams, "A Grass Widow." A good program at thj hall in the af ternoon would have been greatly apprc elated. A number of our citizens spent the day InOgdcn, Logan, Salt Lake and other cities of the state. The sun shone out bright, but the day was a chilly November one. JOSEPHINE DEFFRY AND HER EXCELLENT COMPANY- Theatre goers of this city and near by towns have been treated to a num ber of high-class plays this week by , the famous Josephine Deffry Co., and crowded houses have greeted the ; P compnny each and every night. Every performance has given perfect satis faction and merited the crowded houses. The mat ter of purchasing a new organ for the Mantua school, was referred to Mr. White with power to act. The Clerk was authorized to em ploy someone to make a trip to the following school, nntl slate the blackboards where ever It was found necessary. Lakeside, Honeyvllle, Deweyvllle, Colllnston, Fielding, Ri verside, Garland, North Garland, Tre monton. Elwood, Bear River City, Fruit vale, Appledale and Perry. A payment of $1200 was ordered made to the W. A. Williams Plumb ing Co., on the estimate of the archi tect for the heating and plumbing contract of the High School building. Judges of Election for the coming school election were appointed in all the precincts. It was ordered that a mass primary be held In each precinct throughout the county, nt which delegates will be chosen, based upon one delegate to each 2f pupils enrolled In school for 1907, to attend a district conven tion to be held at the time and place named In notices which will be pos ted in all the precincts, excepting District B, where a mass convention will be held Wednesday evening, Nov. IS, at 8 o'clock p. m. Supt. A. E. Jensen recommended that all teachers be allowed $8.00 as expense for their attendance at the I'tnh Teachers' Association, to be held in Salt Lake City, upon presenta tion to the board of a certificate of attendance. Adopted. The Janitor's salary at Bear River City was Increased to $24. per mon th, effective Nov. 16. Adjourned. :" S, S. UNION MEETING. A Sunday School union meeting of the Bear River Stake was held in this city at 2 p. m., last Sunday. Elders Felt, Wallace and Reynolds of the General S. S. Board of Salt Lake City were present. AH but two of the fourteen Sunday schools of this stake were represented. Interesting addresses were delivered by the visit ing brethern after which the assemb ly separated into departments and took up the lessons outlined for the I coming month. Both are popular young and the best wishes of their friends for a happy and Joyous voyage over the matrimonial sea follow them to their new home at Garland.
