Colombia, N. C, Feb. ft, 1918. Count Record. I en joy reading the paper very much, it all aonnda like home to ma ihc things of home are of much more interest to one a long way from home than at home. I read all that, is printed, adds and all, and enjoy it very much. In the copy of .Ian. IK, I read the article by Rev. W. W. Ketchum on "What is Mnn?" and his argument to prove thai man was n descendent of God rather thnn the npe wns pood; but I am afraid that his idea brought forth in the relationship of God and I man is erroneous, and mnny will be ! lead ar.tray to some eStent by the 'statement he sets forth here, "That J mnn is the Image of God," as he said, "Now the essential difference between them (the ape and man) does not eorsiet in the brain capacity of the ! skulls, in hairy or smooth skin, but in the fact that man was made in the image of God, By this is not meant !n bodily likeness, for we know 'God is a spirit' and 'a spirit hath not flesh and bones.' (John 4S4 Luke 14:89)" He bringl forth the idea that God 'is a spirit without body, parts or pas sions, as many people of the world believe, and the point here is the one to bt considered by nil who are pro fessing to be Christians to know what kind of a God he or she is wor shipping. Now, I wish to bring forth a few Scriptural statements to show that God is not a "spirit without flesh and bones," but that Be is a spirit with flesh and bones nnd that man is made after Mis own image. Consider Gen. 1:20-27, "And God said let us make jnan in our own im agt, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sen So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him; male and, fe male, created Be them." Do we have flesh and bones? Jacob "called the name of the place lYniel; for I hnve seen Cod face to face, nnd my life is preserved." Here we find Jacob conversing with the Lord and the I md tells him his name shall no long er be Jacob, but Israel. How could he have seen Hi- face if He had not had a face to be teen 7 Gen. 82:30. The Lord spoke to Moses In this way and he said, "Thou can'st not see My face; for there shall no man tee Me and live; and the I. old laid, Behold, tl era is place by me, and thou shalt tend upon a rock. And it shall come to pass while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by, and I will take away My hand, and thou shalt .see my back parts; but my face shall not be Been." Cx. MlSO-ftS. Here the Lord speaks himself and BOya He passed his hand over Moses. Seemingly He must have n hand. What is the hand at tached to? 1 say an aitn and the arm to the body. Then the hand was re moved and Moses was permitted to see His (Cod's) back parte) therefore be must have parts. Christ was a man among men, born of a mortal woman and sired of an immortal Father and BOOM called him the "Carpenter's son." And Apostle Paul in the Hebrews said the Son of God or Savior was in the expii . , iiu age of His (Cod's) person. Heb. 1:- ( i ::. On the offering of the Bavior, ; the disciples, after He was risen from the grave, were frightened nnd "He aid unto them, why are ye troubled! and why do thought! arise ii von hearts Behold my hands and my feet, that it is 1 myself. Handle me at d .. e, for a i plrit hath not fl ah and bones as ye see me have." Luke He was I man not spirit. 1 think that I have a t forth Bible references plenty to prove and . the personality c f God up all right, and latter da 11 lal Ion i I proof in ill of itself. Statistics show that not a dollar was lost by the investor in buying tho stock of any LEGITIMATE coal com- j pany in the state of Pennsylvania. On the contrary, millions wore made by the people who bought stock at the time of the original offering, and the DELEWARE, LACKAWANNA & WESTERN RAILROAD has paid untold millions to its stockholders in dividends from their coal properties. THE REAfDING RAILROAD, THE PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD and the BALTIMORE & OHIO RAILROAD have all wonderfully prospered owing to the fact that they are peculiarly coal roads. CHARLES M.
