IIAIGII, Attorney for Petitioner. SENSE AND NONSENSE. Mrs. A , a young matron whose well regulated household had suffered at the hands of her servants, hird a Chinese boy, who was untrained but bright. As a proper manner of receiv- , ing a visitor could not impress itself on his mind Mrs. A decided on a practical demonstration of her in structions. Explaining that she would be a visitor and that he was to answer the ring, she presented herself at the door 'with her card. Sing, with a gracious smile, ap peared, tray in hand, on which she placed her card, and he bowed her to a seat. Mrs. A dismissed him, glowing with pride at her words of approval. The following day a summons by the bell gave Sing the inuch-planncd- for opportunity. The visitor rustled her silken way into the reception room, after placing her card on the tray of the smiling boy. Sing himself hurried to the kitchen, i where he made a careful comparison between -the card just presented and that of his mistress, which he had ; concluded unobserved. Decided a to I his course, he appeared before Hie visitor, and said a few words which caused a sharp retort and a hurried exit. Intuitively Mrs. A felt all was not well below, and hurried to inquire: "A caller, Sing?" With determination written on his stolid face he silently handed her the , card of the late visitor. "What did you say, Sing? anxiously I inquired Mrs. A 1 . I "Me lookee this," he replied, "me I lookee that," indicating the two call- I ing cards. "No samee me tcllce I lady not at home. Tickcc no good!" I 1 I
