Claude Innaan went to Tonopah Sun day on business. Lee Williams is finishing a very ueat two room ’dobe house. J. P. Sweeney spent several days in Tonopah last week. Mrs. J. H. Tom Fleming was one of the numer ous visitors to camp Tuesday. E. W. Smith, the photographer of Tonopah, was an arrival Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Manon have moved up in the canyon close to his well. Gus Eisen, of the Goldfield Mining company, came out from Tonopah Tues day. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. A. Keruiek, of Milltown, spent several days in Tonopah last week. H. B. Lind returned from Tonopah Monday evening after a successful busi ness trip. W. I. Booth, photographer, has his outfit in Goldfield and will soon be ready for business. li. A. Marr, the mining man of Sump ter, Ore., was out to Goldfield again this week. H. J. VoGtinu, for some time with the Montana-Tonopah company, was visiting in Goldfield this week. Frank Lothrop left Tuesday for Car son City where he was called by the death of his father-in law. \V. G. lioss, of the Enterprise Mer cantile company. Tonopali, was in camp Tuesday on a business visit. \V. 3. Williams, “the G ddfiehl hust ler,” accompanied by Mrs. Williams, spent several days in Tonopali this week. Mrs. Clias. Hooteu, of Fifth avenue. 1 has been ill for some few days, but is now slowly improving. R. L. Johns, of the Goldfield Mining company, is now in Oakland, Calif., but will return about the first of the month. Mrs. C. F. Littrell, of Austin, came in Tuesday with the nine-year old son of J. F. Mitchell, superintendent of the Jan uary lease. J. H. Shockey of Tellaride, Colorado, is visiting his old friend, Mr. Watton. He will continue on to Goldfield in a day or two.—State Journal. Clarence Kind, who is with the firm of E. Marks & Co . will build a stone and concrete house on Fifth avenue, which he will rent when completed. I»r. Frances Williams, of the St. Frauces-Goldfield Mining company, is confined to her room in Tonopali with illness. ,7tm Forman, or lonopaH, who is Heav ily interested in the mines and prospects of Goldfield, made one of liis periodical visits to the camp Tuesday Messrs. Woods and Kichards, the for mer selling cash registers and the latter safes, were interviewing Goldfield’s busi ness men during the week. ,T. D. Lothrop is building a ’dobe resi dence on third street, and Frank Loth rojr is erecting one of frame close by. Both gentlemen will bring their families in as soon as they are completed. Charley Maher is building a home on Fifth avenue for the accommodation of his family, who will arrive shortly. Mrs. P. Touhy and two children are also com ing iu with Mrs. Maher. John T. Jones left for San Francisco on Tuesday’s stage. He will be there for thren or f >ur weeks undergoing treat meat for his eye, which was injured some mouths ago. Henry C. Cutting, who was one of the luckiest leasers in the early d lys of Ton opah, was in camp Tuesday. Just to show he was a good fellow, he dug up five plunks to have the pleasure of read ing The News for a year. Albert S. Watson, the real estate and mining broker of Tonopah, came out to camp Monday looking over properties in which he is interested. He was aocom panied by A. J. Johnston, a mining man formerly of Colorado. Both gentlemeu are very well pleased with Goldfield and its prospects. C. H. Elliott, who is known as the “hustling broker of Tonopah,” accompan ied by Mrs. Elliott, was iu camp Sunday looking after his numerous interests. He expects that the lease on the February in which he is interested will catch the ex tension of the rich ore shoot which is now being exploited in the January. C. K. Jarvis, one of the original own ers of the Combination, wns in camp this week. He reports a good showing and • probable sale of a group of claims near Crow Springs owned by himself and Jim Forman. Geo. S. Green, county attorney for Es meralda, had his name enrolled on the subscription list of The News, sending with his remittance a kindly and compli mentary letter, wishing the paper success. Mr. Robinson will hold services in Mi ners Union Hall Sunday at. 10 a. m. and 7:45 p. m. Sunday School at 2 p. m. All are cordially invited. Landers was re-elected Recor der of the Tonopali Mining district last Friday, his opponent being Tom Flem ing. Judge Burroughs, of San Francisco, who has interests in Goldfield properties, was visiting in camp the past week. E. C. Hogan, representing E. C. Stew art, dealer in school furniture and sup plies, was in town early in the week. Harry Ramsey, who has been- at his home in Berkeley for some time, is ex pected in Tonopali today. The first public school in Goldfield was opened last ' onday in the Miners’ Union building, with 17 pupils in attend mice. Seven of these are in the primary class and the balance range from the sec ond to the seventh grades. Judge Col lins and Claude Inman, trustees, have ordered a complete outfit of desk-, maps, charts, blackboards, etc., and they will be delivered in August. The school was fortunate in securing the services of Mr. Ilobinson as teacher for the little ones, and he will doubtless advance the schol ars as much as possible to do in the short term. Since coming to Gol I field Mr. Robinson has become a general favorite, owing to iis affability and kindly consid eration of others. A Correction. In mentioning the nominees for offices in the Citizens Protective Association in last week's issue the name of Judge Collins was put dowu for secretary. This was an unintentional error, due to care less copying. The Judge was named, but declined, and Chns. McKinnon w,.s the sole nominee, it being the unanimous opinion that he would make an ideal secretary.
