A. A. Bnsey, of Diauioudtield, went to

John O’Keefe, the stage man. was one
of Wednesday’s arrivals in camp.
Robert Stewart, of Sodaville, spent
several days in Goldfield the past week.
Herbert Cook, of the Nye and Ormsby
County Bank, was a visitor in camp last
Saturday.
E. Marks, the Goldfield and Tonopah
merchant, spent Sunday and Monday iu
camp.
A. E. Barrett and wife, of Seattle,
Wash., are stopping at the Inverness
lodging house.
Buddy Grimt8. the Tonopah humorist,
came out to see the big gold camp last
Saturday.
L. L. Patrick will soon start t.> build a
nice residence on Fifth avenue ami make
Goldfield his home.
Frank Piue. with the firm of Ryan and
Stensou, of Tonopah, was iu camp dur
ing the week.
R. L Johns, president of the Goldfield
Mining company, returned Tuesday from
an enjoyable trip to California.

two weeks stay at Wally hot springs, and
he feels like a two-year old.
Tom Roland has opened the Miner’s
Cash Grocery in the binding formerly oc
cupied by Sunderland’s assay office.
Frank Lothrop returnd from Carson
City Tuesday where he was called to at
tend the funeral of his father in law.
Andrus A Walton have built a ’dobe
addition to their butcher market, which
they will use as a cold storage room.
The organ for the Sunday School ar
rived Wednesday morning and has been
put in Miners’ Union hall for the present.
T. G. Lockhart, who has interests in
some of the bonanzas here and in Touo
pah, h ft this week for a two weeks’ visit
to Denver.
Handers ,fc Inman, contractors and
builders, are prepared to give bids on
concrete houses and all kinds of concrete
work. *
J. H. Shockley, who was one of the
heaviest operators in the Telluride, Colo.,
district, spent several days in camp dur
ing the week.
O. O. Kincaid, a prominent mining
man of the Sumpter, Oregon, district,
was one of last Saturday’s arrivals in
camp.

Rev. F. II. Robinson has shown his as
surance of the growth of Goldfield by
fencing in a couple of lots in Ramsey
Addition, for future use.

Tom Murphy, W. H. Elliott and other
owners of property on Main street are do
ing considerable grading and making
other improvements.
M. S. Sharp, proprietor of the Gold
field Feed Yard, was knocked out by an
attack of the grip for a few days, but is
now able to attend to business.
The Reno Journal says Joe Wilson,
well known here, has some very rich
claims near Goldfield which promise to
make him well off. Garduerville Courier.
Rev. F. H. Robinson on Wednesday
received notice from the county clerk
that he has been licensed to perform the
marriage ceremony in the county of Es
meralda.
Geo. W. Richard, of the State Bank
and Trust Company, accompanied by a is
sou, Roy, came out from Tonopah Sun
day to look over the bonanza showing on
his Jumbo lease.
,T. D. Lotlirop returned Wednesday
from a business trip to San Francisco
and Verdi, this state. He was called to
the latter place by the sickness of his
children who. however, are now all right.
p. E. O’Brien reports a very enjoyable
time on his recent vacation in California.
In company with his wife he visited San
Francisco, Oakland and Los Angeles
and was much pleased with the country
about those places. Mrs. O’Brien re
mained in Oakland.
One who had indulged too freely in the
juice of the corn which addleth the
brain and tieth up the legs was up be
fore Judge Collins Tuesday. The judge
made it light, fining him $25 and $7 for
trimmings in the way of costs.
Mysterious Shooting.
Last Saturday night, about 11:30
o’clock, six masked men went to the en
gine room of the Combination, and with
out any preliminaries shot Robert Demp
sey, who was on duty. It is said that
three shots were tired altogether, but
only one took effect, going through the
fleshy part of both Dempsey’s legs and
indicting a wound painful but not ser
ious. The men then took Dempsey and
another man named Windsor, who was
in the engine room at the time, down to
wards Columbia, and cautioned them not
to return.
Dempsey, being a non union man, it
was thought by many that the shooting
was a resuit of his refusal to join the
miners’ union, but officers and members
declare that such is not the case. Demp
sey, himself, to the peace officers, said
that he did not believe it was the work of
uuiou men and did not know of any rea
son why the men shot him. The man,
who was taken down the road with Demp
sey, E. W. Windsor, is a member of the
union in good standing.
Church Notice.
Sunday next divine service will be held
in the White Wolf buildiug. In the
morning at 10, subject of discourse,
“The Bread of Life.” Evening, at 8, on
“Progress.” Rev. Father Gleeson.

on last Wednesday two very important
strikes were made—one on the Jumbo,
the assays of which run over $1700, (a
story that nine tenths of the people who
read this will not lrelieve, yet it is the
absolute truth)—the other one lying west
of the Jumbo on the Combination Frac
tion that runs into the hundreds.
At the same time we have the strikes
we are getting orders for stocks, and we
firmly believe that no one can lose a cent
by buying any of the cheap stocks now'
offered, as the ground is close in, and the
chances are favorable to make a strike

and we must not forget to tell you of
the Goldfield Vindicator—they struck j
$20.' 0 values at 30 feet, and it is increas
ing in value all the time. This stock will
soon take an upward turn and will de
velop into one of the best mines in the j
camp.
We are prepared to receive subscrip- j
tious on a new company formed on the |
Curly George and Boom Fractions, of j
which the first block of stock will be sold
for 5 cents. The Curly George lies be j
tween the Baint Ives and the Union Jack
of the Jumbo group. The ledge outlie
Baint Ives that carries the high values
runs across the Curly George and into
the Union Jack. This company has a
small amount of territory, but situated
in such a favorable position, it will no
doubt prove to be a bonanza. Bend in
your subscriptions.
The Red Top we have to quote at 40c
as the price is going up so fast that we
cannot keep up with it an™advise our
clients to purchase all they can at that
price.
The January is the biggest small mine
ever found, and in time will be a large
one. The stock is flying skyward, and
on account of the small number of shares
sold, it is hard to buy.
