Those who have ever assisted in t. joys of moving a printing office, with its tons of heavy machinery and type, >r who have helped erect a five-ton cylin der press without adequate facilities, will appreciate what The News has been up against and bear with us in the delay of this week’s issue and any and all oth er shortcomings. Through it all there is the satisfaction of knowing that when the material has all arrived and is in place The News will have one of the handsomest and best equipped offices in Nevada. In the past nine months the establish ment of something less than a hundred papers has been threatened for Gold field, and at the present time at least half a dozen are contemplating starting up. But whether The News remains alone in the field or whether a hundred competitors spring up, it will continue as in the past to give the best paper that the money and ability of its owners can torn out. With the new facilities, that this will soon be much better than at present goes without saying. Roosevelt is elected—very much so. Judge Parker ran-but not fast enough to loee bis dignity. Let all hope it is for the best—and then buckle down to work and help make it SO. ___ If yon have tears to shed prepare to shed, prepare to shed them now—Mis* souri has gone Republican. Those who thought Parker and Davis Had a ghost of a show—one of whom we are which—have another guess coming. Much comment has been created this week over a circular printed for the Big Elk Gold Mines company, which con tained raw statements, chief among which was one that Jumbo stock was in demand at |2,000. Secretary L. £. Wil son lays the blame on the poor printer. If the statement was pat in deliberately it was an idiotic thing to do, for the fig ures regarding production of the mines were well within the truth. President James Faulkner ordered the circulars destroyed as soon as he saw them. We have been assured that such has been done. The circular also states that the Kg Elk company bad struck a ledge in its property. It Is too esr|y to say thi» T edge matter haa been *n eonntered and assays as high as 111 se emed, but it cannot be said positively aa pat that then is a lodge in place The ^mdndif it were true.
