Marshal Wanl returned from the Bull
frog district the last of the week.
Billie Beck went into Goldfield to re
new old acquaintances for a few days.
Mrs. J. Isnler, of Reno, arrived in
comp last Saturday, and will s|iend the
winter here with her husband.
Star Morrison went into Goldfield last
Sunday on business for a few days.
Singelton fc Murphy came out from
Tonopah last Saturday, and will put in
the winter prospecting. They report
quite a rich strike at live Patch, north
of Tonopah.
Tom Murphy and Claude Inman re
turned to camp lest week. They were
accompanied by John Erikson and his
expert, who came for the purpose of
making an examination of the Huh and
properties.
Tom Wilson, of the firm of Wilson
Manon, returned to camp last Saturday
after a two weeks' trip to Bullfrog,
Tonopah and Goldfield. Frank Cook
was in charge of their business during
his absence.
Geo. Miller returned to Goldfield on
the hurricane deck of a burro one day
last week. He came from his camp, a
few miles east of the Crater, where lie
has been developing the Portland Group
of claims. He brought in some good
looking rock showing free gold.
Sid Carey, superintendent for Kidge tV
Curtis, is still pushing work on the Like
Like mine. The shaft is down HO feet,
and they are now crosscutting the ledge
at the 50-foot level, and are in the vein
matter over 2M feet, and expect to cut
the foot wall any day, when they will
drift on the wall with the view of open
ing up the pay shoot.
The Red Kagle elaim. owned by Mar
shal A Wright, situated two miles west
of town, has a large, prominent, ipiartz
vein running through it. In some places
the rock pans well. They have sunk a
shaft to a depth of 20 feet on one wall,
and are now crosscutting. The ore is
very similar to that on the flub.
Jas. Rainbow came back from Gold
field Sunday with a large load of lumber
and supplies for his two leases on the
I Iltib and Peacock. He lias a nice, well
j defined ledge on the Hub. and is getting
some good as.-ays. and also some fine
pannings of coarse gold. Mr. Rainbow
feels very much encouraged, and says he
expects to begin sacking shortly.
Wentburger A Adams went through
to Goldfield from Trapman. 20 miles east
of here. They have some valuable
claims joining the Trapman mine, which
was sold a couple of weeks ago for $12.
000 cash.
M. Keller, of Columbia, came out
Monday to look the camp over, lie ex
pects to put on a team hauling water
from the well, five miles west of here.

The Christinas Festival.
Good progress has been made in ar
ranging for the celebration of Christmas
Kve. Friends of ttie young people have
responded freely, and more to hoar
from. The canvass for children has re
sulted in finding so far about To boys of
all ages, and about 50 girls; also ten
children who are under 2 years of age.
Preparations are being made to remem
ber every one—and as many more as
shall be reported. It is a difficult mat
ter to be accurate in this and it is hoped
that all w'hose names have not already
been given, will be handed in to Mr.
Robinson or the editor of The N ews.
Not only will the tree lie of interest to
the children, but to the older ones as
well. A musical program is being pre
pared so that the evening will be an en
joyable one.
Mrs. H.T. Bragdon, Miss Hazel Clarke
and Mrs. F. W. Doran have lieen asked
to assist Mrs. Camp w ho has been work
ing so faithfully and successfully in se
curing money for the Christmas enter
tainment. Other persons wishing to
assist financially will kindly hand their
contribution to either of the above
named persons or to Mr. .1. T. Davis, of
the State Bank and Trust company, Mr.
S. II. Kitto, Nye and Ormsliy County
Bank and James R. Boal. of the Gold
lield Bank and Trust company.
A nice Christmas present has been
offered for the best Christmas story, the
subject being “The Real Meaning of
Christmas’’ — 250 words. F. very body
asked to participate. The best written
story to be read at Christmas entertain
ment. Write your story and for further
particulars see Dr. Boal at close of Sab
bath school, 2:15 next Sabbath after
noon.
Back from Honeymoon.
Mr. and Mrs. \V. lioy Ridge have re
turned from their honeymoon and are
visiting friends of the groom here in the
city. They will remain in (ioldtield
several days after which they will leave
for Tonopah, where they will reside
temporarily. Mr. Ridge intends build
ing an attractive home hew and making
the greatest gold camp the world has
ever known his i>ermanent home. Mr.
and Mrs. Ridge were married several
weeks ago at Kansas City, the home of
the bride. Miss Louise Loudon.

Mr. Robinson will preach in the
Ladies' Aid hall on Sunday at 11 a. in.
and 7 p. m. Sunday school at 3:17*.

The market timing the past week has
been very active in spots. January,
Jumbo an-1 Sandstorm show a strong
upward leniency. We have repeatedly
advised our clients to purchase Sand
storm ami Goldfield as they were sure
to go higher on merit. We think the
rise in Jumbo is entirely speculative, due
to the complications arising from tin
many suits the company is involved in.
If the Supreme Court sustains the lower
court in granting the contention of lease
No. 7 and the permanency of the re
ceivership. it will certainly bear heavily
on the minority stockholders. At this
writing it looks as though the company
would be held up by litigation for some
time tocome. It lias been notoriously
circulated that Mr. Taylor and Mr. Mc
Clellan arc trying to fleece the minority
stockholders but we find, after due in
vestigation, that there is not a scintilla
of truth in tlie accusation; furthermore,
we believe that they are entitled to the
control of the property as they own a
large majority of the stock and that
when they are placed in control they
will manage the property for the lienetit
of all the stockholders. Under the ex
isting conditions we think it a very j>oor
buy. The upward tendency has bad
a good effect on a great many other
projierties in the camp, notably lied
Top, Columbia Mountain, Blue Bull and
Kendall. We have, during the past
week, inspected these properties end we
have no hesitancy in advising ourclients
to take on these stocks at the prevailing
prices. They are sure winners. In our
opinion the Sandstorm is going to rank
with the Florence, January, Combina
tion and Jumbo as a shipper. There are
a number of other properties which we
would like to mention hut we will refer
you to the news columns of the paper.
We are receiving very Mattering re
ports from the Bullfrog district. The
Original Bullfrog is looking exceptionally
well. There area numlierof new strikes
reported in districts contiguous to the
Bnllfn nr.
There is no question but what the
southwest Nevada Mineral zone is the
wonder of the age. Capitalists are just
begining to realize that they must be up
and doing to keep pace with tin- oppor
tunities. Don’t fail to take on some
Florida-4 ioldtield Mining earn pa ny at 'Si
cents. It is a great property and its
management is a good one. We will
gladly furnish our clients any informa
tion they may w ish regarding any com
panies in the 4 ioldtield or Bullfrog dis
tricts.
