Summerfield has re turned from a visit to the new mining camps in Nye and Ksmeralda counties, lie is greatly impressed with their im |sirtance, so much so, in fact, that early the coming week he will leave Winne mucca and go into business in the towns of which there h rs l>een so much said. Mr. Summerfield has lived in Winnc mncca all his life, having lieen born and bred in the town nearly a generation ago and now is almut to ‘cast anchor to the southward’ and settle in Tonopah and Goldfield. While away he bought the livery barns in Tonopah and Colum bia. The Silver State regrets exceed ingly to see Mr. Summerfield leave Win nemucca and hopes he will make a mill ion in his new home and return to this town to spend it. He is progressive and a rustler and one of the kind of men who 'make two blades of grass grow where but one grew before.’ The people of the new camps are to lie congratulated on gaining so valuable a man to assist in tmoming the new camps.” To Close Derby Dives. At lust the government has stepped in and taken a hand in the matter <>f abolishing the hell holes that have ex isted along the eastern portion of Was hoe county for the past year or more, says the Reno, Ncv., Journal. Last Saturday the orders came, and now the keepers of the deadly holes around Der by, and Haxen as well, have 30 days in which to pack up and remove their property from government ground. This affects Buckman A Warren, as well as other government contractors and saloonkeepers in that section of the state. For more than a year Buckman et al. have been conducting rum houses in eompetition with the other saloonkeep ers along the ditch. The abolishment will he welcomed by all law-respecting citizens of the State, say those who have noted the reign of murder and robbery in these infected sections. By doing away with them, say law-abiding citi zens, the government has stamped out dens of murder and almost every sort of crime on the calendar. Notice.
