sides of Twenty-fourth street, be
tween Van Buren and Harrison ave
nues as a curb and gutter district,
and to construct therein concrete
curbs and gutters according to the
standard form adopted and used In
Ogden City, and together with all in
tersections and the necessary grad
ing therefor, and to defray the whole
of the cost thereof, estimated at
$2,500.00, by a local assessment upon
the lots and pieces of ground lying
and being within the following dis
trict, being the district to be affected
and benefited by said improvement,
to-wit: All the land lying between
the outer boundary lines of said
street on both sides thereof, and a
line drawn fifty feet outward from
and parallel to the said outer bound
ary lines, being part of lots 1 to 5
inclusive, block 36, plat "C," and
part of lotB 1 to 13 Inclusive, Capi
tol Block subdivision, Ogden City sur
vey. All protests and objections to the
carrying out of such Intention must

ficit in the operation of the Seattle
municipal railway system, consisting
of two separate lines five and eight
miles long, respectively, running
through sparsely settled districts, will
be $36,397 for the coming year, ac
cording to an estimate by A. L. Val
entine, superintendent of public utili
ties, published here today
Mr Valentine estimates the gross
revenues for the coming year at $36,
000 and the total expenditure, Includ
ing 513,500 interest on bonds, at
$72,397.

CINCINNATI VOTES
ON NEW CHARTER
Cincinnati. July 14. The question
of the adoption of a charter Is being
voted on here today. The charter
was framed by a commission of fif
teen men and provides for non-partisan
ballot, two candidates for mayor
with the elimination of party em
blems, small council, civil service?
and gives the mayor the appointment
of all executives.
The initiative and referendum i;
provided for but the recall will be
submitted on a separate ballot.
