Idaho. th;u voluntary enlistments are
now open for njl branches of the
United States iffmy, This includes in
fantry, cavalry, artillery, different
tatf departments, medical corps, avia
tion, tank and motor transportation
j corps, etc.
The enlistment period for re-eallated
men, that is men who have had pro
1 ious service either in the regular army,
national army, or federalized national
i Eruard, is one or three years. Men re
enlisting immediately are entitled to
, the discharge bonus, travel pay of five
cents a mile and a thirty-day furlough.
Then there is the three-year enlist
ment for men serving their first en
listment. Any man enlisting for three
years and desiring service overseas
will be sent on overseas service al
most immediately. Jn this connection
the go ernmeut has just called for

these men to replace those now serv
ing on the A E. P. and desirous of re
turning lo their business life, which

every way. due to our receipt exper
ience, it will not be so intensie as

tion. Those men entering some of the
. more technical branches, such as the
aviation, motor transport, tank, signal
corpy, engineer corps, etc.. will have

The Reserve.
Our latest regular enlistment was
for seven years, three years' active
service with the troops, at the end t" f
which time, unless the man desires to
rc-enlist he was furloughed to the re
serve, and remain on same for four
years. The present onli-'ment bap no
reserve feature. The mn at the end
of his l or 3-year enlistment, may

Chautauqus Circle, on Saturday after I

discussion of Imperial Great Britain 1
was held. Mrs. David Jensen pre
sided and Mrs. Etta Shupo was ic
charge. Mrs. Alice Shurtiiff Mra
George Kelley, Mrs a W, Putnam
and Mrs. David Jensen gave pome ex
cellent papers dealing with different
i subjects but all pertaining to the main
I topic. "Imperial Great Britain."
One appealing paper given by Mrs.
David Jensen, dealt with the govern
ment of India and William Bentinck's
i part In establishing a standard and
inaugurating a policy of right. lib
efforts are especially interesting when
one considers that the government of
India Is far more complicated than
is ordinarily realized and that fifty
three languages are spoken in the do
minion William Bcntinck aided wonderful
ly in the uplift of the people In raor
ways than one. He made the burn
ing of widows punishable an murder.
He suppressed the "Thugs," a seroi
reiigious body of murderers and abol
ished flopping in the native army. He
reformed the administration of Justice
and restored the native language in
the courts of law. He established
schools and colleges.
Great Britain has linked the Indian
provinces with railroads of more than
35.000 miles and has redeemed by ir
rituciion over 25.000.000 acres of land
