Dec. 22 A serious decrease in the power available for the operation of street cars was caused by a blowout in a large motor gennr-, ator in the Utah Light & Traction c ompany's substation al ihe rear of the company's building on West Tempi' stfeet at 915 o'clock yesterday morn ing. A lively blaze within the generator! resulted from the blowout and necessi tated n call to the fire department A j few gallons of chemical extinguir-hed the fire. The blowout was caused by a short circuit in the armature of the generator. Although the company has on hand 1 all the necessary equipment to repair1 the damage, it will require three days and three nights of continuous work to put the generator back into opera tion, according to Manager H.
