"Why I am Yankophlle" Is the subject of "an 1 article contributed to Ultimas Notlcias by a Chilean who has visited the United States. Somo of the reasons he gives for liking the United Slates are: Because when a person falls down nobody laughs. When in the street a person steps on another's toes, they do not insult each other. The shopkeepers can leave their de liveries on the doorstep. People keep in line at ticket offices and have respect for each other's place in the line. Everybody takes a bath. People have only ono surname. There is no profound respect for the police. The public fear the police and not the police the public. The people know how to walk in the Btroets, always passing to the right and thoy do not stop to talk. There is only "first-class" on rail road trains and special cars for the smokers. Drunkards in that country are an extinct species. The name doesn't make the man, but the man the name. It is a sign of ill breeding not to respect the opinions of others. (There are two hundred religions in that coun try.) Youths of 18 are in tho universities, and not in the stock exchange or the saloons. Democracy co-exists with the gov ernment. The men know how to sing and aro not bashful about it. . nn . The young ladyacross the way says her father is very loyal to his home town and always makes his loans at, his own bank at G per cent, even though money ts quoted as high as IC per cent In Xew York. 00 ' .
