A fight for larger recognition of women in nation al affairs developed at a meeting of the women delegates of tho superin tendence department of the National Education Association. A protest was i made against the small representation women on the major programs of the convention, and indignation Avas ex pressed at what was termed the fail ure to recognize the growing promin ence of women in educational affafrs. The resolution declares that Chadsey had "been subjected to an indignity that was very much regretted in the teaching profession," and conveys to him "full confidence of ihe members of the society." Control of the department of super intendence, whose meetings aro atend ed by a majority of the 8,000 delegates was the subject of a resolution by Fred M. Hunter superintendent of the Oak land, California, schools. He gave no tice that on Wednesday he would in troduce the resolution which provides a primary system of nominations, the two with high votes to appear on the final ballot.
