For somo months tho city has been obtaining the greater part of its water supply through tho Intake In tho dam. Thero is danger of typhoid and tho water consumers should have been notified of the fact so that tbe safeguard of boiling the water might have boen applied. In preparation for the emptying of tho reservoir, a plpo line Is being laid up Wheeler canyon and a second line is to bo placed along the rlvor to ft point three miles east of tho preeept Intake, so that when tho city Is cut off from the reservoir, two new sources of Bupply wfll bo available. When tho sediment In tho reservoLr has been Blulced out and tho dam closed and refilled, tho company plans to place an elootrto dredgo on tho artificial lake and, with poworful suction pumps, keep the bottom free from the debris which ie carried Into tho basin.
