SUBJECT OFGENERAL CONVER
SATION AMONG RAILROAD MEN
Hope Expressed That the Higher Au
thorities May Take a Hand in
Improvement Work
Railroad officials and employes lo
cated in this city are evidently quite
as deeply Interested In improvements
I
mapped out for Ogden this season as
are other citizens and the theme la
the subject of general comment at this I
time wherever railroad men assemble
The consensus of opinion is that the
present delay is only of a temporary
nature and that the erection of the
new freight depot storebuildings and
the enlargement of the yards will be
Inaugurated within the next thirty or
sixty days at most and will he pushed
to completion as rapidly as practicable
as soon as VicePresident Krutt
schnltt and other olOcialo high in au
thority are fully advised of the rea
tons and purposes of the present de
lay
Ogden Is generally conceded to be
the most important railroad center be
tween Omaha and the coast and the
fact that annoying and J ullreasonabc
delays in carrying out needed Im
provements already authorized by tilt
higher officials of the Harriman man
agement retards and delays traffic
and Is a sourro of a heavy loss In
business to one or more lines of Uio
system will result in an investiga
tion that may do away with the pres
ent obstructive methods
