Good nope, Dec. 30.?We have heard of Childrens' Homes and Humes (or the Incurables, but when it comes to1 a school house being converted Into a home for drunkards to sober up In, as was the case at the Post school house from 12 m. to 0 a. in., Christmas mora log, goes rather beyond our depth. The door being locked, an entrance was forced (we supjose) by battering on the door with some heavy body, or substance, prubably a rail or rock. The catch was broken off and the lower panel bu rated otit, (there being but one panel in the door at the lower end). They made the stove so hot that the bowl is cracked almost all the way arounri, and the floor literally strewn with coal, tobacco quids and spittle. Nu further damage was dis cernible and proof is wanting in the punlshmmLof the offenders, notwith. standing a clue. This school house has been the nightly quarters at inter vals for tramps and card players for the last several years, to say nothing of two or three dozen window glass which were shot out with revolvers and target rifles. Since the late drunken carousal, tile" trustees and patrons seem to think they have just cause for righteous Indignation. A Citizen. Moving Rubbish. Va., December 20.? _The citizens of this neighborhood wave the public quite a treat In the way of an Xmas Arch on Christinas eve, the Arch and House were mag niflcently decorated, the presents and lights being tastely arranged; which along with a program of choice decla mations, eloquent speeches and essays, interspersed with appropriate and well rendered music by the choir, made it a most highly enjoyable occa sion. Good order prevailed notwith standing the presence of a few who had embibed a little too freely, all s.-emed to go home with a smiling face and perfectly satisfied. There was also a Christmas tree at the Twoll^k school house the same evening. We are informed that it was also a glowing success, notwlthstadd ing the close proximity to the Arch here.
