statement, which speaks for itself

Pucker & Witten Tobacco Company,
and I wish to'correct the statements,
which appeared in a recent issue of
the Henry Bulletin, wherein T was
quoted as saying that said sale was
made to a branch of the American
Tobacco Company, and would add
that K. J. Reynolds Tobacco Compnny.
of Winston-Salem. N. O., to
_ whom we have bargained to sell, is
a distinct concern within itself, and
!S not n branch of the American Tobacco
Company, or any other busi~
ness. The president and other officers
of the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco

pears to have been an attempt to
9 burn the city prison was made. One

jj threw it in the disinfectant bucket,

3 cells. The disinfectant was ignited
S -and the room was soon full of smoke.

mates cried out for their, lives. They

? heard- their cries and rushed into
> (he room to ascertain the trouble.
The officers proper! their way to the
5* windows and flung them up, and the
room was soon once more in its natural
condition.

Constable J. E. Lauglilin, of Buffalo
district, Clay county, who is
in the city on business, paid his respects
to liis friend, John Barleycorn.
whom he had not seen in n
number of years. The felicitations
were so profuse thnt he landed in
the city lock-up Tuesday morning
in abnormal condition. He asked

over in the cell apparently dead. A
physician was summoned at onc<
