PARICEJRSBURG: Though the pries of river labor has advanced, several hundred per cent within the last few years, rlvermen here report that it is difficult to obtain roustabouts and other help on the river packets. The explanation lies, they say, in the increased activity of the steel mills and munition factories which are offering higher wages than the boat owners are able to pay. Roustabouts a few years ago were paid from $20 to $30 a month. Steamboatmen now have difficulty in obtaining that class of labor at wagea of $50 to $60 a month and are predicting that they will be compelled to offer more.
