I 'are in East 157th street, west of Third avenue, and have lived there for about twenty-three years, where 1 own real estate. Up to the time I am about to mention I had been a strong, well man. Pittsburg Is willing to spend $10,000 for Ward’s release. The left hand pitchers aro doing the better work this season. Myers is daily improving in his play at second baa* for the Washingtons. The International league have advanced umpire*’ salaries from $200 to $250. The fence of the Baltimore bell grounds was blowu dowu by a recent storm. Dave Orr not playing with »s marked brilliancy of late as he did formerly. John E. Carroll, formerly of the Uticas, haj'been engaged by the Cleveland club. There is considerable dissatisfaction over the poor record the Brooklyn clnb has made this season. Judge Noonan, of St. Louis, has decided that the Sunday law is not applicable to the national game. The International league has been quite generally praised for tho stand it has taken against Sunday ball playing. A young Buffalo amateur pitcher named McGuire has been tried, and will be put into pitch an exhibition gamo soon. Cleveland is still on the hunt for a pair of outfielders who can bat. cover a lot of ground and run bases very fast. So are several other clubs. It is stated on good authority that tho Hub's king pitcher, Radbourne, is thinking seriously of retiring from the field after this season. Von der A he is thinking of trying Callin der, the Decatur catcher. Ho is the mau signed by the Maroons last year, but was never given a trial. Both McCormick, of the Pittsburgs, and Mike Kelly are fiends at betting on horse races, and it is stated that both would rather follow the track for a living thau baseball. The New Yorks aro after the release of Geuber, of the nartfords. He was considered the best pitcher in the Eastern league. Last season he pitched for the Newburyports and Lynns in the New England league. The California fever is striking all tho eastern clubs with great force. Detroit, New York, Boston, Louisville and a colored team aro among those who are expected to ploy on the Pacific coast during the winter. A strong movement is now being made to form un interstate semi-professional league in the sonth. Tbo following cities are in it: Savannah and Augusta, in Georgia; Wil mington and Charlotte, in North Carolina, and Columbia, Greenville, Sumter, Orange burg, Blackville and Camden, in South Caro lina. The games draw remarkably well in cities where professional ball has never been played, but iu the others the attendance does not pay. Manager William Barnie, of the Baltimore team, who has been accused of league aspira tions, denies the soft impeachment, and says that instead of the association watching him and Von der Ahe in anticipation of a jump at the end of tho season, it behooves the league to look to itself lest it lose one of its most valuable members. And the fact of the matter is that Detroit is very likely to be in the association next season, and in a way that is not looked for. ROYALTY. Tbe king of Denmark is tall with a com pact figure. The Princess of Wales is said to look every inch a princess. Empress Eugenie’s health has been im proved by a stay at Amsterdam. The kiux of the Belgians is tall and stiaight, with a full chest and broad shoul ders. The Priuce of Wales wears one of the few white high hats to bo seen in London during the summer months. Tho king of Saxony is«aid to have the ap pearance of a retired merchant with a small income who live# a peaceful, narrow life. Princo Bismarck is the most decorated man in Europe. Should ho ever appear wearing insignia of nil tho orders conferred on him he would resemble an Oriental prince. George, second son of tbe Princo of Wales, has awnkened tbe jealousy of his elder brother by raising a beard. It is not, however, a hirsute ornament of very great beauty as yet. Thakor Saheb, of Morbi, and Thakor Sahib, of Sinde, two of tho Indian princes who attended Queen Victoria’s jubilee cele bration, will visit tho United States before re turning bonne. Prince Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg is an en thusiastic naturalist. He possesses one of tho finest ornithological collections in the world and a notable cabinet of precious stones. The Siamese prince, Kron Luang Devn wongse Varoprakar, minister of foreign af fairs nnd brother of King Chulalon Rom, is i short, spare, bright eyed man, fairer banned than most of his race, with black hair and mustache. In manner he is nervous ind a bit impatient, but amiable and cour leoos. He usually wears ordinary European Nothing. He will cross this country and go lomo by way of San Francisco and Japan. The king of tho Belgians has just invested 11,100,000 in the parehdSe of estates in Hun gary and Austria. They are nominally to lecomo the property of his majesty's sons-in aw, the Crown Prince of Austria and the Priuce Philip of SaxoCoburg-Gotha, but it is generally believed that this step has been aken in \ tew of possible mishaps. The late iing invested largely both iu England and in America, and his son has followed in his steps tn< i Kis considerably increased the stores ac 'ura&iatcd by his provident sire. The Prince of Wales originated the idea of he jubilee jugs, which to the number of 35, MD were distributed to tiie children in Hyde Park. His royal highness was much struck >y tho distribution of rough brown cups bear ng the imperial cipher in relief, with which he czar commemorated the marriage of the murovitch; and tlie productions of Messrs. Don 1 ton, which cost nearly sixpence each, ire great improvements on the original Tho [round is of polished cream colored earthen ware, and the two portraits of the queen [ls-7 and lh37) aro urtisricallv executed iu leutral tints. NEW YORK CHINAMEN. Gcxd lauudrymen aro paid $4 a day and x>anl I The floating population of Chinatown is iboat 300. Good Chinese ironers turn out about fifty darts a day.
