12 FRATERNAL DEPARTMENT. The Installation of Officers and Social by Sequoia Parlor of the Native Son*. Last Monday night in the presence of a large number of friends of the members of thai energetic parlor of the Native Sons of the Golden West. Sequoia No. 100, the officers who were recently elected lor the term commenc ing the Ist inst. were Installed in the main hall of the Native Sons. The installation took place on the stage and was by District Deputy W. H. Soule, assisted by James J. Jamison, acting as grand secretary, ami Robert W. Martland as grand marshal. The deputy, who was letter perfect in the work, administered the obligation to the new officers and then de livered the charges with a clearness of enunci ation and imprcssivencss thai is seldom ex celled. So well did he do his work that at the close the entire audience gave him a long round of applause. The officers who were in stalled are: S. A. White, past president; L. C. Pistolesi. president; James H. O'Neil. lirst vice-president; 11. G. Haaselbach, second vice president; R. M. Conroy, third vice-president; R. D. Barton, recording secretary; Chares E. Torres, financial secretary; L. M. Bannau, treasurer: Joseph Lawless, marshal; P. J. Murray, inside sentinel; William L. Vice, out side sentinel; trustees— J. F. Lyons, T.T. Rich ardson, Martin O'Brien; Dr. E.F.Donnelly, physician and surgeon. The preceding past presidents are: C. E. Torres, E. F. Donnelly, W. P. Johnson, J. A. Spiller, L. M. Ban nan, C. G. Hinds, J. W. After the ceremony there was a dance that was kept up until the Native Sons' band had rendered the music for eleven numbers and two extras. The newly installed officers were the committee of arrangements. It was as sisted by the following named: Floor director, L. C. Pistolesi; assistant floor director, Robert W. Martland; floor committee, E. F. Slattery, William F. Koch, A. Rossi, J. F. Lyons, A. H. Pape and William P. Johnson; reception committee, S. A. White (chairman), Charles E. Torres, Dr. E. F. Donnelly, A. C. Gross, T. J. Weis, H. L. Bacigalupi, L. M. Bar man, S. V. Horning and J. C. Seagr, ye. Laurel Lodge, K. of P. The officers of Laurel Lodge No. i, Knights of Pythias, were installed last Monday night in one of the large halls of Pythian Castle in the presence ot almost the entire membership and a large number of their lriends, including many ladies. The manner of installation" was a little at variance with the usual run of pub lic installations. The officers were not in stalled in the routine manner, one after an other, but there was an installation of one or more officers, then a number irom a pro gramme prepared by the committee on enter tainment, compose-! of George H. Wolfe (chair man), B. D. Goodrich, A. C. Kuli, B. Jsenburg and D. W. Say lor, then another installation and another number, and so on to the. end. First there was the entrance of the grand offi cers attired in the fatigue uniform oi the Uni form Rank oi the order, and they presented a very attractive appearance as tney moved along to a march arranged by Ed Hisgeu of Laurel Lodge. After a piano solo by G. Wedel, a member of the lodge, the prelate offered a prayer ; then there was a song by A. Conrich, accompanied by M. S. Kramer; alter that came the Installa tion of the commander chancellor, L. c. Hoff man, the obligation being administered by the grand prelate and tne charge delivered by Roscoe E. Lane, district deputy; Mr and Mrs. Schee*er sang a duet and then A. C. Kull, vice chancellor commander, was installed; Mrs. Finneger recited 'Her Letter," and then the prelate, G. J. Olmstead, ami the master of the work, J. E. Pomroy, were installed; W. W. Finnic gave a tenor so.o, whicn was followed by the installation ot the keeper of records and seals, Ernest ITlman (seventeenth term), master of finance, B. Isenburg, mid master oi | the exchequer, 1.. W. Say lor; Philip Gordon entertained with a violin solo, after which the master at arms, L. Kraemer, inside guard, J. F. Long, and outside guard. J. H. Brook, were Installed. This was followed by a barytone solo by B. L. Tarbox, the delivery of the charge by the grand chancellor, a French dialect song by Mr. Finniger of Laurel Lodge, a recitation by Miss Hazel Isenberg, legerdemain by A. C. Manota, assisted by Isabel Munola, and tne benediction. The many numbers presented were of a character that merited the applause given teem, and the legerdemain Dy Manola was ; particularly clever and entertaining. George; H.
