DISGRACED MINISTER ATTEMPTS TO END LIFE Pastor of a Chicago Methodist Church , Throws Himself in Front of a Train. CHICAGO. Feb. 28.— Rev. Dr. J. M. Caldwell, for many years presiding elder of the Methodist church at Chicago and now . pastor of the Union-avenue Metho dist Church, attempted to end his life to day by throwing- himself in front of a Grand Trunk train. He was unconscious when picked up, his leg was broken and he was internally injured. He was taken to Wesley Hospital, where it was said he might recover. Dr. Caldwell was arrested last night on a charge of disorderly conduct and re • leased on bail.
