10 NO INVESTIGATION OF GUGGENHEIM Upper House Resolution in Colorado Tabled by a Strictly Party Vote MATTER IS DROPPED DENVER; Jan. 11. — Senator J. H. Crowlej% a Democrat, introduced in the upper House of the Legislature to day a resolution providing for the ap pointment of a committee to investi gate Simon Guggenheim's alleged ppu r chase of the United States Senatorshir Tor which he recently received the in dorsement of the Republican caucus The Senator cited published reports concerning the use of money to secure th^ election of members pledged to vote for Guggenheim and declared thai for the good name of the State action should be taken. "This is not a Demo cratic party measure." declared Senator Crowiey, "and I wish to declare that I have no personal prejudice against Supgenhcim either politically.' re ligiously or otherwise; but I <io not want to be characterized as» having been a member of a Legislature that was bought." After a stormy debate the resolu tion was tabled by a vote of 18 Repub licans to 11 Democrats, a strict party lineup. Sena-tor Fred Parks then moved that the matter be expurged from the records.
