Commerce *Is '^ Urged by a Member to r Combat Duffe3 r? s' Decree ELECTION OF OFFICERS r If the Chamber of Commerce adopts \u25a0the suggestion of leador Jacobs, one of its members, made at the organization's annual meeting yesterday, that body will clash with President George F. Duffey of the Board of Public Works over the removal, of spur tracks that cross Market street. Jacobs urged that the Chamber of Commerce insist, that at least one line should cross' Market street^ and connect two sections of" the city. President Duffey has' decreed that all crosstown temporary tracks shall go, because they are a menace to teaming. Jacobs' suggestion met with scattering applause, but no action was taken. Yesterday's was the . first annual meeting held since the fire. Treasurer C. W. Burks reported that the Chamber of Commerce had 16889.11 on hand on December 31, 1906. The receipts during the year were $11,169.81, and the distri butions $11,604.76. The greater part of the session was occupied by the reading of the report of the retiring president. William H. Marston. After a short review of the history of the April disaster and the work of the Chamber of Commerce dur ing that time, Marston referred to t^e proposed increase in the water front facilities of San Francisco, for which, according to the report. $2,000,000 «s available.
