NEW YORK; May 9.— J. .. H. McCor mlck's Glorjfler, winner of the Cartejr handicap, came right back today and ; won the first ot the big racing events iof the year, the Metropolitan handl : cap, at Belmont park. The 'New • Or i leans campaigner finished two lengths ahead of Okenite, an added starter, and the great Roseben was third. The time for the mile was l:*o .4-5./. GloriSer was an outsider in the bet ting and went to the post at 20 to 1. Okenite was rated at the same figure for a time, but went to the post at i 10 to 1. Glorlfler won in a hard drive. With the exception of Sewell running, out] at the head of the stretch, the race was truly run and the victory went to the best horse. '. considering the condi tion of the track, r Roseben, the heavily played favorite,; was off in a good position and, after fol- | lowing the pace to the stretch, took the lead, only to lose it, as the mile was a little too far for him. Roseben i carried a ton of the public's money, but; Sewell. Dandelion, J. C.
