SOCIETY SOCIETY in San Francisco at present is a theory rather than a practice as far as events of any sort are concerned, and the only news that falls to the lot of the chronicler of the doings of society folk , r is in regard to the weddings of this month and tho goings and comings — the summer flittings — of well known ; people... There is some wonder as to what methods are adopted by residents of the city nowadays to pass the amount of time that is seemingly un occupied, but there are no complaints heard as to the dullness of the season. It Js quiet — there are no events — but Interest ,in municipal affairs, the strikes, the outlook and political situa tion are occupying the thoughts of people, and particularly of women is this true. In a way that Is practically unheard of here before. Buds of last season or next whose chatter should be" of "trifles, light as air." may be heard discoursing learnedly upon in dustrial matters In a way that is as tonishing. It is probably but a .repe tition of the .latest opinions delivered \>y the * heads of their respective houses, but the understanding of af fairs accompanies it and It will be in teresting to note the result in -the ulti mate development of the youth of tho city. *-: The .following Item cos?* from Lon don and will be read with interest 1 here: \u25a0:'".::-\u25a0'.
