trom the country and ready to wrestle
with the problems that were presented
by the nuctuatlons In mining shares!
When the gong-s rang the prices took
«.n the tone of la«t Wednesday, the
time when business *was suspended for
a vacation of a few days. This lasted
a while, but then a downward turn set
in once more and the values in, the
market depreciated. Goldfleld Con-
solidated rose from $5.12% to $5.25 and
there was a good demand for the mer
ger shares at. that rate, the selling: be
ing mainly In 100 share lots. After
the regular call board- the prices for
Ooldfield Consolidated fell. The lowest
Jevol to,date* : was reached when 500
shares were sold' at $4.85,
A conspicuous exception to the gen
eral decline that took place was found
in the case of Nevada Hills, which ad
vanced, 'with sales of 5,300 shares, from
$4.60 to $5." ".This stock has been im
proving for eomc days in the local
boards. Totvopah Extension improved
five points yesterday, selling up to
J2.10. Montana went upward from
$2.75 to $2.£0. Mayflower Consolidated
jrained a point and sold at 32 cents in
informal - session.' Belmont dropped
largely, the' fall being measured by the
difference between $3.60 at the opening
and $3.57% at the close.
Indian Camp got down to 5 cents a
share. L<ou -Dillon sold for 10 cents.

af the Merchants' association Intends
to offer vigorous opposition to the pro
posed appropriation in the budget of
$720,000 for the reconstruction and
municipalizing of . the Geary street
road. Lack of money and more press
ing municipal needs are assigned by
tlie reorganized directorate .as 1 the
principal reasons tor Its opposition to
the project.
The board. Is of the opinion that
whatever city,, funds are available!
should be expended for rehabilitation
and improvements to streets, the re
pairing of broken . sewers . and the re
construction of engine houses, schools
and municipal buildings. These needs
are urged as being much more pressing
that the rebuilding of the Geary street
, line.
The board has reorganized and elect
ed the following officers:

Combination of Properties Made That
Involves Expenditure, of $100,000 *
The Bullfrog mining and milling com-^
pany has purchased tlie : Lee Combina
tion and the Lee : Washington properties
in the Lee district. The transactfcm in
volves $100,000, as reported. The Bull
frog Miner says of the move ! and Its
consequences:
About $ 100.000 Is involved "In the -conßumma
tion of this part of . the deal, and the j amount
to be expended In carrying out the purposes of
the owners will reach Into the hundreds of
thousands. Immediate' development- work on , a
large scale will begin on the two Lee prop
erties and a ' large - mill will be built by the
Gold Bullfrog company on its property near Us
water site at Gold Sprlnps ranch. 10 miles north
of Rhyolite, for the exclusive treatment of: the
ore taken from the properties. The Bullfrug
company has appropriated 1,000 miner's inches
of water for the latter mill.
, In the meantime the . big mill of the Gold
I Bullfrog company is proceeding independently
and will be in operation in al>out 60 days. While
the Gold BullfrofT company has purchased .the !
Other two properties straight out, they will l'« ,
operated under separate company organlzatioa.
The Gold Bullfrog retains its same officers 'tit
E. G. Luentzel. president; 'H..W. Preston, vice
president and general manager: Fred .W. Nash,
secretary, and Michael Stcpan. treasurer,, and
the following . officers will regulate the affairs
of the holdings In the Lee district, ' consisting ;
ot 18 valuable claims: E. G. Lnentrel, presi
dent; A. U'Lldwell. vice president;' H. W.
Preston, manages; Fred W. Nash, secretary, and
Michael Stepan. treasurer. .
' The Lee - groups " were located by . -Taroney,
Martin,' Cox and Martin.
The arrival of President Luentzel a week jgo
and his repeated trips between Lee and Rhyolite
resulted in the consummation of the deal.
The mill for the Lee. properties . will have a
capacity of 100 tons a day. with a cyanide plant
of 60 tons, capacity. The force that will hu
put on the Lee properties will be able to take
out 200 tons of ore daily as soon as the work
is organized.
Work will also begin on the mill, and with
the development work on: the properties, being
pushed vigorously throughout the summer It is
believed that before Christmas the ore will be
under treatment.

o£ the Amalgamated copper company
for I the year ended April- 30 Is ! shown
by the annual report;, today, to have
been $14,164,400, an increase over the
previous year of $4,992,863. The-sur

dividends,- was $2,228,088; ah Increase
