Three workmen fell wit_h . several
tone of steel frame and building ma
terial in the collapse yesterday after
noon of a portion of the second floor
of the Mechanics' bank building in
course of construction at Market and
Mason streets and two laborers were
burled. All escaped. serious injury.
Otto Poole, foreman; Frank O'Rasch
and Charles Scbtt. structural iron
workers, and Ernest Keast and Louis
Cornett, laborers, were the men who
were imperiled, the three former fall
ing 20 feet with the wrecked steel.
Poole and O'Rasch escaped so lightly
that they did not have to be taken
to the emergency hospital, where the
other three men were removed to have
their injuries dressed. Poole was hurt
about the hands and vras rendered.un
conscious by the fall. O'Rasch was
bruised about the body, but his injuries
were not thought to be serious. Scott
was treated at the hospital for a dis
located wrist and thumb and serious
