14 FINANCIAL AND COMMERCIAL SUMMARY OF THE MARKETS Wall street stocks lower on the day. Money, 4y 2 @lo per cent. Cotton advances from 45 to 60 points on the government report. Copper stocks steady. Silver and exchange about; the same. Continued activity and firmness in the southern Nevada stocks. Chicago wheat higher.. This market unchanged. Barley and oats quiet. Corn and rye neglected. Flour and millstuffs still moving off well. Hay continues to decline. Feedstuffs and beans unchanged. Wool pretty well closed out of firstihands. ' The lowe3t bid for hay was $27.90 a ton. The -contracts for red blankets went to Levy Straus & Co.. at, sl each; for gray blankets to Hale Brothers for $3.95, and for white blankets to Green baum, Weil & Michels for $3. D. Sam uels bid $4.90 for white blankets, but the board ruled that as Greenbaum, Weil. & Michels had been furnishing a blanket heavier than the required speci fication'and had given satisfaction in the past, the firm was entitled to the contract- again. The contract for^eoal was awarded to Thomas Morton at $12.70 a ton and for whisky . for the city.- Institutions to R. R. Dlnnegan. at $2.48 a gallon. . \u25a0;.-.
