12 Shipping News and Gossip of the Water Front Nebraska Sails for Magdalena Bay to Join Admiral Dayton's Ships The United States battleaiup Ne braska. Captain Nicholson, sailed yes trrday for Magdalena baj- to join Ad miral Dayton's squadron in target practice. When the Nebraska arrives at Magdalcna bay the bis battleship will find imposing company there as sembled, and the natives of the beach surrounding that landlook«»d bight may enjoy a naval spectacle, almost as in spiring as the Fight of the 16 battle ships that Admiral Evans is bringing to the Pacific. Admiral Y>ayton> "big four," the cruisers , West Virginia, Colorado. Maryland and Pennsylvania, vrill be there.. -'The new cruiser California, the St. Louis and the Charleston will be among. those present, and it is mor#» than likely that the Washington and Tennessee., the vanguard of the big ffeet. will still be there when the Ne braska arrives. The Washington and Tennessee, Ad miral Uriel 'Se.bree's flying squadron, may .be ordered north before the Ne braska reaches Magdalena bay. and if Fuch'is the 'fca.se San Francisco will not be long without tenants in man of war row. * Admiral Sebree has many friends here who axe looking forward to his return. The Nebraska will join the battleship fleet when Admiral Evans reaches. the Pacific, and if the cruiser squadrons are here when "Fighting Bob" puts "In" an appearance there will 1»c at anchor within the. Golden gate 36 .ships of the line*. And there will be room left inside for all the other navies of the world, plenty of anchor .-ijre. tor- '. commerce carriers, and the ferry fairways will still be unob structed. Will Take Coal From Shenandoah The navy collier Justin came down from Vallejo yesterday and anchored off YalLejo street. The 'Justin today will go alongside the ship Shenandoah, at Union street wharf, and take a cargo of coal from the ship's hold. The Shenandoah, .under ordinary circum stances, would have discharged at Val lejo. but the damage sustained on the Potato Patch when coming into port necessitated lightening the be fore taking it up the river. As the coal from the Shenandoah would have beeo added. to the pile at the navy yard, and as the Justin would- have loaded from that pile. It was decided to save time and .cxpehsfe by discharging. the Shen andoah -directly into the Justin, to the extent of , the -Justin's capacity. When the Justin has been loaded the Shenan doah will be towed to Mare island. Japanese Liner Dae The Japanese liner Nippon Haru had not put in an .appearance at sunset last night, but every preparation has been made to receive the steamship at sun rise today.
