The, uncertainty growing, out p.f the situa tion In Xevada has, had a tendency to keep the buying interests aloof for a few days or until something: definite materializes upon which to act. A gen eral apathy was noticeable; a conse quence of the new year holiday. There was no pressure to sell, but .the ab sence of an active Interest 'supporting the market led to a general decline*. Goldiield Consolidated was active throughout the session. It opened at $4.70. a drop of five points from' Tue sday, and fell immediately to $4.65. After hovering: around this figure it slumped to $4.60, made a show of strength, and then broke to $4.55.' ' During the rally at the close the stock rebounded to $4.571 i. " . ; .
