SIERRA IS ALMOST READY FOR SERVICE Big Liner Will Make First Trip to Honolulu, Leaving Here March 26 New Steamship Mokoia From Wellington Will Connect at Tahiti With Mariposa — iJE Oceanic steam ship company has announced that its big liner Sierra wlil make Its first trip on the Hono lulu run, leavlns hero March 26, and already about 50 passengers have been booked. The Sierra is still at the Union iron works, where the liner is being con verted into an oil burner. In addition to doing away with the dirt and an noyance for which coal dust and cind ers are responsible the change Is ex pected to add to the Sierra's speed. fVom the passenger point of view the Sierra is one of the most conveniently irrsnged and comfortably equipped liners on the Pacific. The liner Alameda. which is due next Tuesday from Honolulu, will make one more trip to the island port before being laid up for a general overhaul ing, after which it will so on the run in conjunction with the Sierra. The Alameda, on the trip leaving here March 5, will have a large num ber of passengers, Including 30 east ern tourists, who are making a person ally conducted tour of the Hawaiian islands. The Mariposa. twin, sister to the Alameda, will have more work to do on the Tahiti run than ever before as the result of an improvement in the through connections. The Union steam ship company will put its new liner Mokoia on the run between Welling ton and Tahiti to connect with the j Mariposa. The Mokoia Is a new j steamer, fast and .luxuriously appointed and is famous on the other side of the Pacific as a model passenger ship. Xotlcc to Mariners Captain John A.
