WOMAN'S
SECTION
THE SMARTEST FASHIONS OF WELL
DRESSES FOLK
DEAR ELEANOR:
Yesterday afternoon there was a springlike freshness
in the air and I strolled out to the park to read the book
of nature. I might have been in the Bois in> dear, gay
Paris, for a stunning creature with her. escort swept by;on: her way
to an. afternoon- entertainment of some kind. I say swept by, be
cause her dress was gracefully long, and her disregard for the
effects oa the lovely costume was breath-taking. -She \u25a0.wore one of
the long wraps that are so successful in covering .any delicate
gowns. It was one of the rich apricots, enriched by -bands of heavy
embroidery that outlined the neck and theffont'edges of.the'upper
cape. A plaque of this just hinted of the shoulder, and the lowest
corner of the skirt was turned back and y . embroidered -with the
Frenchy touch of the unexpected.
Chiffon pleatings outlined the shorter cape, and were used as a
puffing between the embroidered bands' on the huge combination
muff.
Her hat was a becoming toque that was of filmy brown tulle,
wound around the crown with an osprey at the side. A softening
frill of chiffon showed the return of this Corday touch. >
Even the mere man at this fair one's side seemed to be
cognizaijj of the fact that the costume, of the woman was different
from the usual garb. I confess that my long dull blue coat, with its
curious treatment of straps, was conspicuously 'straight and tailored
in contrast. ; ; , ,
The idea is resting in my fertile brain.^and you -need not be
surprised if I burst out in the glory of a long wrap due to this
glimpse. My love to you. ; -. ,v -- Yoursister,
MADGE.
