VOLUME CIX.— 147. NONPARTISAN COMMITTEES TO SUPPORT ROLPH Municipal Conference Executive Authorizes Brandenstein to ; Select Members Eighteen Assembly Districts to Be Organized for Work at Once By GEOPGE A. VAN SMITH The establishment of central non partisan organizations In the eighteen assembly districts is to be the Imme diate work of tho municipal confer ence of 1911, which stands sponsor for the candidacy!of James Rolph Jr. At a meeting of the executive com mittee of the conference held In the Mills building yesterday afternoon Chairman li. V. Brandenstein of the campaign committee was authorized to select the members of that committee and his appointments made a start upon the'work of organizing the city for Rolph. - Rolph was present but took no part ln the discussion. He will take no part In the selection of the committeemen who are to he in general command "of the conference campaign. The campaign committeemen probably will not all be members of the municipal conference. Chairman Brandenstein is at liberty to go outside the ranks of the conference for his aids on the committee, and the committee is at liberty to exercise an untrammeieij judgment in the selection of a campaign manager. SUPERVISORIAL PROBLEM The question of supervisorial indorse-r ments and the time for making such indorsements will he taken up at a meeting of the candidates' committee to be ailed by I>r. T. W. Huntington l'ri a day or two.. 1* is announced that that meeting will be devoted to a dis cussion of plans and scope of further proceedings. Translated, that probably will mean that the candidates commit tee will make no supervisorial indorse ments for several weeks, and possibly not until, the field is filled and filing lime arrives in August." While-there has been no authorized a-nnoiineinent. it is generally under stood that Rolph will not name any personal committee for several weeks, md that he may not name ,«!uch atom nlttee before the primary election. It Is believed that ultimately there will be need for some sort of central com mittee through which the committees representing the municipal -conference, republican and democratic parties, re spectively, may co-operate. SOOD GOVERNMENT LEAGUE The good government league has al ready started "a movement designed to levelop a discussion of ways and means for such co-operation and. if possible, to establish a basis upon which the allied organizations may work for the Indorsement of a complete ticket. The league lias Issued an Invitation for a -inference this afternoon to' be .at tended by five representatives of the republican county committee, demo cratic county committee, municipal conference. Ran Francisco democratic rlub and good government league. DEMOCRATS TO CONFER On behalf of the democratic county committee the conferes will be Chair man : Timothy Riordan. Sidney " Van Wyck, T. W. Hickey. Charles Fay and Louis Mooser. - . The probable postponement■ of muni cipal conference action on supervi sorial indorsements has not discouraged the candidates. Each "Jay results-" in substantial additions to the list of citi zens willing to sacrlfic j themselves j for the public good—preferably with the Indorsement of the. municipal confer ence, to say nothing.' of Its campaign organization .and campaign fund.' "'*. **•Among the latest recruits are .Arnold Pollok, cigar dealer and manufactur ers' agent; John J. Oonlon, master painter; Fred J. McWilliams; , C.. *W.
