From let. trti.S. Jtwilt, Pi of titer ef Slatt AcrrwJ SckocU Alt, x. r. This may certify that I have been, slnoe 1411, suhieot to violent periodical attacks of catarrh, marked by a highly-Inflamed condition of the lining membranes of the cavities of the head, pro ducing a moat distressing srecleaof headache for days at a time, wholly Incapsoitatlog me for busi ness, ana during the paroxysms confining me to the bed. In some Instances the Inflammation has extended to the teeth, occasioning toothache t to the throat, producing hoarseness and partial loss of voice and twice It has so affected the left eye as to confine me for a month or more to a darkened room. These attacks have been accompanied by strong febrll symptoms by stoppage of the head, and, In the first stages, by watery dli charges from the nose, subsequently becoming acrid and yellow, and toward the closing of the attack becoming bloody and purulent I have tried medicines of almost every kind j external applications to the head, such at camphor, ginger, hot bandagec, and fermentations of hot vinegar) snuffs of some half ft doien kinds, and other catarrhal preparations! together with the internal remedies, such at al teratives, eetnartics, and emetics. These have produced no change In the occurrence or eharacter of the disease, and tn moat cases, with little or no temporary icllef, I had eome at length to believe the disease to be practically beyond either cure or material alleviation Under these circumstances I was led some five months ago to make a trial of Dr. LighthlU't treatment. His method, at once, approved Itself to my Judgment, as simple, philosophical, and likely to be effective. Notwithstanding the dls advantages under wnich it labored, in deaiiog with a disesse of sueh long standing, aggravated by nervous debility and dyspepsia, and constantly Induced by the accidents of myprofesalonal labor I found the treatment reaching the disease as It had never been reached before, and producing such a modification and alleviation of ite character as I bad supposed Impossible. I chronicle the results thus: Although I have been situated several times ao that 1 should formerly have believed a severe at tack of my catarrh Inevitable, I have escaped thus fan the symptoms of threatened attack have been vcryllsht, and have yielded to the remedies em ployed oy Doctor ugnmiu, without need of re course to the old hot fermentations or emstlci and tha discharges from the head have resumed the original and natural condition. I count upon a complete cure. That I have been able, however. to obtain to material a relief Is to me a cause of gratitude In that atone I am repaid for whatever the experiment may have eoct me I make thic statement unsolicited, aa a means of acknowledging my obligation to Dr. lighlhlll'a method of treating catarrh, and with a rlew to al 1 any one who may have Buffered from that disease In forming a just opinion of Its merits and Its probable utility la their own case.
