Mr. Swano, of Maryland, at 3 o'clock,

tbe bill which abolishes that department.

toe measure were Messrs. Am ell, Sargent,
Roots, Hoar, Garfield and Kelley. Tbe op
ponents were Messrs. McNecley, Beck,
Fams worth and Lawrence.
