the 1st of November next, free of any expense to
the Government-speclmens of said hose, In lengths
of twenty-five (26) feet each, with couplings of
Work's patest attached. Each specimen most
bear the same of the mannfacturer, with cost of
same per foot, Including, also, cost of couplings.

Sealed proposals to furnish timber asd other
materials for the, Navy for the fiscal year ending
June SO, 1877, will be received at this Bureau until
12 o'clock m. of THURSDAY, November 19, 1879,
at which time the bids will be opened.
The proposals must be addressed to the "Chief
of the Bureau of Conttruction and Repair, Saw
Department, Wathington,'? and must be Indorsed
"Proposals or Timier, i c, Jor the Kavv," that
they may be distinguished from ordinary DuUsest
letters.

reau. The Commandant of each Navy Yard, and the
purchasing Paymaster for each Station, will have
a copy of the schedules of the other yards, for ex.

The proposals must be for the whole of a class;
but the Department reserves the right to reduce
the whole class, should the Interest of the Gov
ernment require It, before the execution of the
contract. All applications for information, or for
the examination of samples, must be mads to the
Commandants of the respective yards.

The contract will be awarded to the person who
