The Opinione, of Florence, bddoqd ces the discovery of a manuscript bound in parcbmenC, consisting of twenty-four pages, closely written, by the great poet Ariosto. In the Tennessee Legislature, Mr. Jas. R. Hood, from Chattanooga, and five other members, are preparing ar ticles of impeachment against G ot. Brownlow, upon the ground that ha illegally appointed Justices of the Peace and other officers contrary to the laws of the State. The 20,000 majority of Gen. Cox, the Republican canidate elect for Governor of Ohio, is a loss of nearly 40j000 on the Republican majority of the last year. The vote in Pennylvania also shows a loss to the Republicans of 50,000, as compared with the vote of last year. The wettest place in the world is Cherrapoorjee, situated in the Cossya hill», twenty five miles from Calcutta. The rainfall at that spot is upwards of six hundred inches in the year, or twenty times that of the very worst climate of western Ireland. After spending several days at Salt Lake, Gen. T. F. Meagher left that city on the 19th of September for Montana. Gov. Edgerton is about paying a visit to the States, during which time General Meagher will hold the gubernatorial ribbons. Henry Ward Beecher has addressed a long letter to the Boston Independ ent, in which he defines "hell" and "future punishment." Mr. Beecher has lately been converted to the doc trines of Universalism. It is well understood that President Johnson has expressed the determina tion and is taking the necessary steps to correct all abuses that are complain ed ot in the Freedmen's Bureau in the different States. It is said that the cholera is making alarming progress in France. The people are pouring out of Toulon with all possible baste, in order to avoid the epidemic. The railroad stations are crowded with fugitives, and the troops are to be removed from tha town. Gen. D. C. Buell is now President of a company which has leased R. A. Alexander's extensive iron works oo Green River, Ky., and contemplates makinsr Kentucky his future home. A ludicrous incident was observed recently at the Meigg's wharf museum in San Francisco, when, the opossum tailing sick, the largest and most ac tive of the monkeys took the sufferer in his arms and went to nursing it in the most comically affectionate man ner. It is said John C. Breckinridge proposes to becomc a British subject and entered into the pork business. Gen. Mansfield Lovell is farming within a few miles of Columbus S. C. The island of Cuba now owes to Spain seventy-eight millions of dol lars. The Fenians are creating a stir in Canada. 'A number lately left Tor onto on a special mission to Ireland. The Mexican consular agent con tradicts the report that Juarez has left Mexico, and asserts there is no oc casion for his doing so. The paper-collar manufacturers of Boston, New York, Springfield, and Philadelphia now turn out a million of collars a day. Gen. Banks has been nominated to Congress from the Sixth Massachu setts District. Gen. Howard, of the Freedmen'a Bureau, has made a proposition for a National Cotton Growers' Convention, to be held in Washington or New York next month. It is proposed to unite the English, Roman Catholic and Greek Churches in friendly communion. English pa pers report three hundred churches in England have assented to the propo rtion.
