The Radical Platform« The following is a complete cop; of the platform adopted by the radi cal eon vent inn at Chicago: The National Republican Party of tbe U'Hted^S'atex, assembled in na tional convention in the city of Chi caao, on the 20i h of M «y, 1868, tuuke the following declaration of principles : 1. VVe congratulate the country on the assured success ot tli« recousu uo tioa of Congress, as evinced by the adoption in a majority ot the States lately in rebellion of their own Con stitutions, and securing equal civil and po'itioal rights 10 ail ; and we re gard it as the duly of government to euxtain those institutions und to prevent the people of such S'ates from being leuiiited to a state of au arohy. 2. The guarantee by Cong ess of •q>ial suffrage to all loyal men in the South, was demande'! i*y every con sideration of p iblte safety, of grati tude and justice, ami must he lunin tallied, whi'e the question of suffrage in the loyal States properly belongs to tbe people of thone Sn'e*. 8. We denounce all forms of repu diation as a national crime, and na tional honor requires the payment, of public indebtedness in the utmost good faith to all conditions at home and abroad, not only accoiding to the letter, but tbe spirit of the laws under which it was contracted 4. It is due to the labor of tbe na tion that taxation should be equalized and reduced as rapidly as the national faith will permit. 5. The national debt, contracted as it has been, for thç preservation oi the Union, for all time to come, should be extended over a fair period for redemption, and it is the uuty of Cobgress to reduce the rate of inter •st thereon whenever it can honestly be done. 6. That tbe best poiicy to diminish our burden ôf debt is ho to improve our credit that capitalists will seek to I >an us money at lower rates of inter est than we now p»y, and must con tinue to pay as long as repudiation, partial or local, open or covert, is threatened or su*p>-cted. 7. The government of the United States should be administered with the strictest economy, and the cor ruptions which have been so «haine fully nursed and fostered by Andrew Johnson call lo\}<ily for radical reform. 8 We profouod'y d p ore the un timely and tragic death of Abraham Lincoln, arid iegret the aceesMoti ot Audrew Johnson to ilie pre«idenc\, who has acted tr^acherou^y to the people who elected him and tliec»u>e he was pledged to ouppoit ; usurped high legislative and judicial fu<m tinns ; has refused to execute the law*; has used his high offim to in duce other officers to ignore and vio late the laws ; has employed his exec utive powers tj render iosenure the property, peace, liberty and lite of the oitizen* ; has abused the pardoning power; bas denounced the national legislature as unconstitutional ; has persistently refused, by every me.suie in his power, every proper attempt at the reconstruction ol the States lately in rebellion ; has perverted the pub lie patrooage into an engine of whole •ale corruption, and baa b. en justly impeached for high crimes and mis ' demeanors and found jr-per'y guilty t lerenf by the volts of thmy lite senators. 9. Ti e doctrine of Great Br tiin tod Other European p^ets that be cause a man is once a su j-ct he is always so, must te resided at eviry hazard by the Uoited S a'es, as a reiie of a feudal time not authorize! by the law of nations, and at war With our national honor ami indeien dence. Naturalized citizens ought to be protected in all their rising of citi leoship, as though they were nxiural born, and no citizen of the United States, native or naturalized, must be liable to arrest and imprisonment by any foreign power for acts done or words spoken in this country, and if ao arrested and imprisoued, it is the duty of the government to interfere in h s behalf 10. Of all who were faithful in the trials of the late civil war there w« re noae entitled to more espeoial honor thao the brave soldiers and seamen who endured the hardships of cam paigu and cruise, and imp riled theii ! lives in the services of the c >untry. ' The bounties and pensions provided by law for those brave deteuders ol the nation are obligations never to bt forgotten. The widows and orphans of the gallant dead are the wards of the oation—a sacred legacy be q neat bed to the nation's protecting care. 11. Foreign emigration, whioh, in Ihe pas*, has added so touch to the wealth, development of r sources and increase Of power to this nation, the Myloiaof the oppressed of »11 uatiunb, 8'iould- be fostered and encouraged by a liberal and just policy. 12. This convention declares its sympathy with all oppressed people who are strugJing for their rights MISCELLANEOUS. jWILLERS AN 1> FA KM Kits TAKE NOTICE.
