Public Administrator. It is rumored that F. H. Nicholson, who was elected Public administrator of this county two years ago. is defaulter to the amount of about two thousands dollars. It seems there is charged to him. in the Probate Court, the sum of $2,0fi0, which was collec ted on the estate of S. N. Palmer, deceased and which has not been accounted for, This estate was quite a large one—the mining claims belonging to it having been sold for *7.000. and the cost will probably amount to some lire hundred dollars, leaving the actual amount for which the Administrator is chargeable, about Sl.fiOO. An order had been made by the Probate Court, for the Ad ministrator to make out and flle his state ment. and to pay over what money was in bis hands to the brother of S. N Palmer. On Saturday the first inst., Nicholson drew $S00 from r.irdseye's Ilanking House, for the purpose, ns he said, of paying it over lint this be failed to dn. On the Monday following. Nicholson wont to Grass Valley in the stage, and that night he hired a buggy to take him to Yankee Jim s. The buggy took him as for n« Iowa Hill, where he was left, and nothing further hus been beard from him. It is a matter of doubt weather or not Nicholson for the past year has been the legal Public Administrator of the couOty. He was required over a year ago. by the Hoard of Supervisors to give additional bonds : with this order lie failed to comply, nnd the Supervisors declared the office us cant snd released the bondsmen. The Pro bate Court, however refused to recognize the action of the County Supervisors as legal.'nml still regarded Nicholson ns the Public Adrainstrator. The Supervisors being doubtful of their own power, neglected to makt an appointment in the place ot Nicholson, and consequently the rigid to the office was not contested. It is supposed that Nicholson has gone to Santa t'laraor San Jose, nnd we learn that his friends have written to him. advising him to come back, and promising to assist him in settling Ills accounts. —.Wi•«U*bauibve T&~ The Sacramento correspondent of the San Francisco Time*, as well as the corres pondents of other opposition papers, say that Mr. Moore of Nevada, and his friends in the Assemldy. intend to keep Speaker Stratton in hot water. We knmv this to lie ontrue. Mr. Moore and his friends will stick to the rules of the House and to I’ar linmentary law. as they shall construe them, and like other members will appeal from the decisions of the Speaker, when, in their opin ion. he violates either. This they should do without being subjected to the charge of factious opposition. We know, without be ing told so. that the Nevada memliers will do right with Mr. Stratton and will respect him and his decisions with as mecli cordiali ty as they would any other gentleman elect ed to the Speakership.
