They are immensely HepuMlrnn State Convention. By official announcement, put forth by the Black Republican State Committee, an*i published iu some of the down riser papers, we notice that a Black Republican State Convention has been called to meet at Sac* rameuto on the J7th August next. The late Republican ratification meeting in San Francisco has apparently given great en couragement to the few sectional fanatics in California, and they must needs have a state Convention, to nominate Presidential luJco* tors, Members of Congress, ic., &c. W« have been unable to see the necessity «r the policy of organizing a Republican party in California, unless it is done Cor tie purpose of compelling California to say that other States shall not be the architects their own institutions. Why should California interfere with tke doomestic affairs or instit utions of other States ? It is but a short time since California, without let or hin drance from other States, formed and adop ted her present constitution, and was ad mitted into the Union, that bright galaxy of sovereign American States; Sectional fanaticism now seeks to array the youngest member of the bright confederacy in sec tional opposiou to a portion of’her elder sis ters. Other States did not interfere with the formation of our institutions, and we should But now interfere with the institu tions of others. The liberty that we have enjoyed as a sovereign State, we should not now deny to other States. Neither do we deem probable, or possible, that California will be led to embrace the sectional doctrines of the Republican party. The strength ol the RcpaUicnn party ins not bcctv tested in. California;; bub by. the best datufroiu which, we have to judge, the parly will not be able to muster many tho»- sand robes iu California next November. If we adopt the last Legislature as a criteri on by which, to judge of the numerical strength of the Republican party, it is in deed a small one. And why should not the complexion.of the Legislature reflect that of the State upon this subject ? We are dis posed to think that it does, and that, too, with great generosity towards the Black Republican party, because the Legislature was composed of men elected by a combina tion of all the isms against democracy, whereas, if the contest had been between Democracy and Republicans m, the Legis lative halls of our State would not have been disgraced by the presence of a Black Repub lican. But taking the lust Assembly as the criterion, and the Banks resolution as a test vote, and there is but about one-eighth of the voters of the State who are iu favor of the Black Republican institution. Accord to this criterion, sectional fanatics might pan out of the one hundred thousand voters iu.California, about twelve thousand Black B*pud>)icans! But wo have another criteri on by which to jndge of the numerical strength of the party. Heretofore there has been but one avowed Republican Organ in the State, and that organ failed not a great while sines; There were not Black Repub licans enough in the State to sustain a single newspaper ! Since the semination of Free mont by the Black Republicans, the Mari posa claim has given an impetus to theparty and another organ has risen upon tho ruins of the old one, which believes that Black Republicanism will pay! Great parade is also made of the influen tial names of wealthy persons who favor the movement in San Francisco. It is expected that these influential and wealthy men will carry great weight with them, and induce sufficient numbers to join the Black Repub licans to carry the State for that sectional rjarty. However severe the reflection may be it i* boldly proclaimed and expected by the Black Republicans that the wealthy and influential namea, paraded forth to the pub lic as participants iu their ratification meet ing, will enable them,to carry the State for Fremont. And this, of the intelligent free men of America!’ Verily, the Mariposa grant, ami the “wealthy and' influential ’ names of San Francisco, have given to the party of sectional fanatics an undue quan tity of impudence, if they suppose the free and intelligent miners of California, can be purchased to oast their votes for a particular candidate. Thera is however, no longer a doubt that the parly of Black Republican fanatics in California, ar e to put forth all their energy to carry the State. They may succeed in purchasing the venal press of the State, and secure the services of all the cor rupt an I unscruplous poetical tricksters, and ballot-box stuffars. No.no! gentlemen Republicans, the miners of California will not vole thamsclvea serfs of Mariposa, un der the plea of extending freedom to the colered race of other states, over which they can legitimately have Decontrol. At the time specified, Dr. Randall was unaVde to meet the liabilities; several alternations took place between the parties relative to it, at one of which Metherington spat in Randall's free. Mr. Jbnx Kel.lt, the great Califor nia favorite will give a grand Vocal and In strumental musical entertainment at the Empire Irotel in Oroville, on Sunday eve ning, July iTtb. The name of John Ivirfly is enough to draw a crowded house in any town in California where he is known, and more particularly at this time when he has been slrlppod'of his littlo all—his home —by the late fire iu Ulaoerville. His entertain ments are of the most amusing kind, and he is acknowledged to.be the most accomplished, performer on the violin that has ever ap peared in California. We Jpdge, from what the papers say of his performances at other j places, that he is meeting with unbounded success. Ho has hosts of friends who ad--| mire his peculiar aud high musical talents, j Metropolitan Theatre. —At this place of amusement on last Thursday night, there was a fair house, and if we are to judge of the performance by the manner in which it was received by the audience, we should sny that they were of a very high order. Packing to the Mountains. —From our friend Martin, who has a public house on the trail leading from Pidwell to American Val ley, we learn that an immense quantity of goods is being transported to the above lo cality and on the various branches of Fea thcr River. Mr. Piobcrt Love has 170 pack mules constantly employed in taking goods to his three stores in the vicinity of• the Junction and Rich Bar. There are several packers and traders passing over this route who are doing a very extensive and prospers qus business, among whom are Holliday, K. Irvin, P. 0 derail, Long, and many other whose names wo Jo not recollect. For ener gy aud perseverance and real California mountain, rough and tumble life, they have no superiors. They well deserve their for tunes which they are fast accumulating ~ They, often have to breast the storms of rain and snow that would make those of less nerve quail before it. They are often caught in the seve.est snow storms, and are com pelled to break their path through it at the rale of one or two miles a day. It falls fre quently to a depth of ten feet or more. When they wade cut and meet their com rads after a few Jays of this kind of fun, they manage to liven citings up around them —ahera is no chance for sleeping ; —they make the woods howl The BJack Republicans of Nevada county will make separate nominations for county officers.
