Sam Francisco, July 28— 8, 30, r. m •• 3o" Secretary, published a card to-day, j stating tlmt Bulger, who returned from the I Sandwich Island, will not be hung, an his! sentence never was read to him, before ex- j I'UtriaiioD. An attempt was rna Ic on Sunday morning | to set tire to Brannan's express building, by | heaping up wall matting, saturated with , cainphenc, against one of the doors. It was , discovered bclore any damage was done. Win. I* Mullins and John Cramer, and several others, were yesterday on a visit to Mr. Ballentine, on Mission road. Mr. Cra mer took a double-barred shot gun from a loom adjoining the one in which the rest of the company were sitting, and taking it with his hands near the muzxle, dragged it with the but upon the tloor towards tlie com pany. It unexpectedly went ott, the con tents passing through the left leg of Mr. Cramer, and into the face of Mr, Mullins, who was sitting opposite. The gun was loaded, as is said, with No. 5 shot, which all passed through Mr. Cramer's leg, below the knee, teaiing and lacerating it to a horrible extent, wbeie they passed out. Mr. Mullins was seriously injured in dif ferent parts of his lace, and one of his eyes entirely destroyed. Medical assistance was immediately sent for. Cramer died this morning, and an inquest was held by Coroner Kent l»y the evidence at the inquest, it appears be slipped and fell, and the hammer of the gun caught iu the door-sill. Iletherington is a British subject, and claims a trial before a legal tribunal. Mr. Dawes, who was shot by a Frenchman at Han Juan, sumo tune since, died at 1 o'clock to-day. Minnesota.— Minnesota is the model of a prosperous, peaceful, and well governed Tenitory. The Legislature has just ad journed, having disposed, satisfactorily to the whole population, of all business brought before it. In reply to circulars addressed to the members, to Postmasters and other persons in public position, returns of the population have been collected up to May 1. It is ascertained, with reasonable accuracy, to bo 120,000, more than sufficient to justify the admission ot Minnesota us a State.
