the words remained unspoken. The
gentleman dreamed a very pleasant
dream —that the fair lady called him
husband; of rosy children, making
him sweetly, purely happy by their
innocent prattle —they were his chil
dren —they twined their little arms
about the neck of the lady of his
heart and called her mother. He
folded her to his breast; she wa
very gentle, they were both very,
very happy. “Dearest : the
effort to address the opject of his af
fections awakened him from delicious
slumbcrings and dreamings.
He was wide awake-as wide awake
as if he had slept until he could sleep
no more. He turned uneasily in his
bed to court those pleasant pictures

girl gazed wildly upon the face that
bent upon her in such earnest, mute

idol of his heart —occupying the same
couch with himself.

happy —very happy —with the bus -
