Yesterday evening, as the Cunptonvir.c
stage, containing ttlmul 17 passengers,
just this side of Dry Creek, about 18 unite
from this city, it was stopped by a band of
seven mounted men, and two on foot, ami
the driver, John Geer, commanded to stand
on pain of being shot. The Robbers then
stated, that if any one resisted, they would
be shot. The threat seemed not to alarm
Mr. Dobson, of Langton’s Express, who in
stantly drew his revolver and fired, when
one of the horsemen fell. An indiscrimknait
fire then commenced f»om both sitles, during
which, some 75. or I CM) shuts were tired.
The wife of Tilghmon, a well known bar
ber of this city, was shot just above th
right eye, and was supposed to bo dying
