E. church was the first of the local Methodist congregations to hold its quarterly conference and st iect officers and committees. Grace church will meet for the same purpose this evening and Fifth Street church will meet tomorrow evening. One of the most important matters decided upon by the First church congregation last evening was the recall of the Rev. R. J. Wade to the pastorate. The con gregation also adopted a. resolution asking that the Rev. T. M. Guild be re elected as presiding elder of the Rich mond district. Reports Encouraging. The reports of the year showed the financial affairs of the, church to bo in first class shape. The -onferenee year, which ends this week will do so without any deficit in the treasury. During the past year there has been an addition of members and 47 bap tisms. All other reports were very satisfactory.
