Local opinion Is not very favorable when expressed toward the present legislature. Many men In public life who have expressed their views de- : dare the present legislature will have proved the least vauled of any that has convened In many years. Up to the . present time the legislators have done practically nothing. This Is the last week of the session and practically the only real important measure that has been able to slide through has been the repeal of the metropolitan police law. This was a platform measure with the democratic party. Will Strip it Bare. It la expected that when the legisla ture adjourns the customary scenes will be enacted and. several thousand dollars worth of state's property will . be carried off by the law makers and the employes of the two bodies. Every thing Including cuspidors and waste paper baskets will be confiscated and the senate and house chambers will : look as if a typhoon had swept through, when the law makers catch the last trains tor Podunk and Squash Valley. .The legislative hall have been the rendezvous for many local citizens this session and It Is probable more "inter ested spectators" have attended than at any previous session. There have been few bills that required any work of a local lobby. The Coahran gas bill was aooui tne omy one to attract at tention ' and necessitate work of this kind. No attention was paid to the police law repeal measure. PIERPOtJT III CAIRO Spending His Time Collecting : Rare Art Curios and Antiques. . . . . IS Of A PLEASURE TRIP v Cairo, Egypt, Feb. 27. J.
