Mr. Doan will outline some of his teaching methods, and local Sunday school workers expect to accept the invita tion which throws the meeting open to the public, in the hope of improving their work. Japanese native dentists conduct their business in a manner which would undoubtedly cause any Euro pean practitioner to open his eyes in amazement. The victim is seated on the ground. The dentist bends over him and forces his left hand between the patient's jaws In such a manner that the mouth cannot possibly be closed. Then be grasps the doomed tooth be tween the thumb and forefinger of the right hand and with one deft wrench removes it and throws It upon the ground. So great is the sldll of these native dentists that many of tbem are able to remove six or seven teeth per min ute. Indeed, their skill is hardly to be ondeced ..at when, oae ccnautaeK ths co u .fie ot preparatory training they are obliged to undergo. A number of holes are bored in a stout plank, and this is fixed firmly to the ground. In the boles are driven wooden pegs, and the would be dentist has to extract them with his fingers without dislodging the board. This process is repeated with a board of pine wood and finally with oue of oak. and it is only when he has succeeded in extracting the pegs from the oak plank that the Japanese considers him self qualified to practice upon his fel low men. The much talked of smoker which had been looked forward to with much expectancy as far as a good time and plenty of lunch was concerned, came to a very satisfactory realisation last Saturday night. A most pleasant ev ening was had and a perfect lunch was served by our Chairman on ar rangements. The entire program as carried out was thoroughly enjoyed by all the . members present. Nearly one hundred members were In attendance at the "smoker." Among the number, several faces were seen who do not come up as of ten as we would like to see them. Come up often boys, get acquainted and find out what an excellent proposi tion the T. P. A. is from its various standpoints. It Is with sincere regret that we learn of the misfortune of Ross Bow man, who lost his household goods in the New Paris fire. Ollie Thomas formerly of this city now of New York was at the smoker haklng hands with old friends and enjoying himself with the crowd. Come again Oliver.
