The First Conception of Music Is Often the Final Conception
What kind of musical instrument have you provided for your child? Is she forced to devote hours to the dreary monotony of practice on the piano in hopes that some day she may be
able to play the simple pieces of popular favor or is she broadening her knowledge of real music by practicing the personal interpretation of good music on the play erpiano?
, Many a child takes up the study of music and after practicing the finger exercise for some time without result, loses interest in her work and finally gives it up entirely ; few continue the anything .
but pleasant practice by which they may be able to play SOME of the classical pieces. Quite the reverse is the case, however, if you place a Starr Playerpiano at your child's command. With but a little
practice she will learn to know and appreciate all that is best in music: By means of this instrument she will be able to play with absolute control of tempo, touch and expression the masterpieces of
Wagner, the beautiful symphonies of Beethoven, or any of the popular music in which she chances to delight. Within a very short time she will become the equal of the artist whose technique and cor
rect interpretation represents a lifetime of labor. We extend you an invitation to come in and hear this player in order that you may see how simple and effective it is.
In Every Home This Christmas There Should Be
And this is the Starr Phonograph's first Christmas its first time to compete with other makes of similar musical instruments, and everywhere in the land it has met with the approval of the best
musical critics known. Following we mention the four great features of the Starr Phonograph:

AU Disc Records.
There is but one right way to
play each, type of disc record.
You can not satisfactorily play
a "hill and dale" record with a
laterally arranged point nor "lat
eral" grooves record with a "hill
and dale" point.
The Starr Phonograph is the only
one primarily designed to play all disc
records with the styles in the proper
position for which each was intended.
You might as well be able to play
every record on the machine you buy,
and the Starr Tone is distinctly su
perior regardless of what type of rec
ord you choose.
We can demonstrate to you that the
Starr Phonograph will play any rec
ord better than the machine for which
it was originally intended.
Does that interest you?
The Heart of the
The heart is the center of all action.
The one most Important, most vital
organ in nature. That is why we term
the sound box the heart of the Phono
graph. To the casual observer, the Starr
Sound Box is just a sound box. To the
scientfic investigator it presents a new
solution of the basic problem of Pho
nographic reproduction. But to -you
as a prospective owner, neither its
form nor principle are Important.
Does it improve the tone quality?
We ask for an opportunity to dem
onstrate that it does; that now, for the
first time, every tone vibration may
be heard unmarred. No question as
to what instrument recorded the disc
enters your mind because it is repro
duced absolutely true.
The Starr Sound . Box IS distincly
different in results.' Come in , and
prove this to yourself. f .: .,'
, The Sounding Board '
It would be impossible to estimate
the time devoted in determining the
comparative accustic properties of tub
stances. It would even be unwise to
guess how many years Adirondak Sil
ver Grain Spruce has been accepted
peer of all.
It is fundamentally right, therefore,
that.it should be used in the tone pro
ducing parts of the Phonograph where
the vibration MUST be greatly magni
fied. The Sounding Board Horn of' the
Starr Phonograph hangs free with an
unrestricted vibration from the small
est end of the graduated neck to the
widest flare o the horn. There is not
a joint or metal connection which will
retard the magnificent tone.
Yet this is not wholly responsible
fdr the unequalled Starr Tone, it is
this in connection with the other fea
tures which we would like to demon
strate" to. you.
The Artistic "
The incomparable tone of the
Starr Phonograph would be just
as true, just as natural if the
case were of the roughest unfin
ished boards, but cultured folk

smaller musical instruments.
If for no other reason you should

THE DIFFERENCE IS IN THE TONE .
Tone has been the foundation of all things musical since the beginning of time all except the Phonograph. - It remained a mechanical device until the
development f the Starr. -;- '. Vi ", " ' t- ' ,
The science, the art, the theory and the practice of tone production were known to the Starr Piano Company, while the Phonooraph'was yet unthought
of, Mechanical ability may be rapidly acquired, but the modern piano was two hundred year in the making. There art two hundred years of tone building
back of the mechanical superiority of the 8tarr Phonograph. This is npt a mystery to conjor over nor an exaggeration to scoff at simply a fact we ask to
demonstrate to you. The better you are acquainted with other phonographs the more you will appreciate the Starr. , '
