friends that this will be an occasion long to be remembered. Months ago we laid
our plans for this event and months ago we sent our buyers to the markets to
contract for merchandise to close as many unusual transactions as lay within
their power. How unusual have been the concessions thus secured we leave to
your good judgment to decide. While many were worrying over the rising market,
we closed deals that seemed almost impossible. Manufacturers and wholesalers
